I really wanted to see him succeed. Too bad. Wish him the best in Europe.

Liked him, just really no room for him. I think he knows it. And unlikely there was much interest elsewhere in the NHL.

Never really had NHL potential. Terrible skater.

He seemed like a decent dude. I hope his stint here helped him in his development and he kills it in Germany. Always a longshot, but I like the Flames taking these kind of low risk chances.

He could have transitioned to the NHL. His AHL game was strong by season's end, but there are a lot of people competing for very few spots.

I am not surprised one bit. I was expecting he'll just play the one year that he signed here and go back to Europe. Wolf knew he'll have problem cracking the Calgary Flames lineup and he'll be in the AHL all season. He tried the North American games and I am sure he's pretty happy that he got a chance to play in the NHL even for a few game.

Surprised if this is true, was told by many on here last year that he was easily an upgrade over Bollig except team kept playing Bollig to justify the acquisition and things of this nature.......

I liked him as a personality and wish we could have had one more year to try and speed him up. Hope he finds success back home.

I am by no means a professional or even amateur scout, but I was at the Oilers games and I was impressed, he seemed to be a part of the play whenever he was on the ice, the David Wolf that snuck into that playoff game was so no where near the play. Not sure if it was rose coloured glasses or not, but it seems his apex was that first game against the Oilers

adrenalin probably plays a huge part on your first call up, still wish he was staying in the AHL, gotta be better competition than a German League

20 goals in 59 AHL games.
Hartley dresses him for a playoff game.
There was something there the Flames liked and that is pretty good AHL production in a high calibre league. He was leading goal scorer on the team in 3/4 of a season played.
I guess further improvement was not considered likely given his age? Given the production, would have liked to have seen him give it another year and at worse, would have been useful in Stockton.

When Wolf dressed in the playoffs, he had been sitting for a while. The date he played it was May 3rd, he hadn't played since April 18th.

If the Flames felt he wouldn't improve further they wouldn't have given him a qualifying offer.

I love the Wolf!
Really hope he signs a contract and stays for another year.
Not trying to go all Sven on him but he really was not given a chance with the big club.
I mean all of 3 games played? Small minutes, no goals, no assists, plus minus of 0!
Drew Shore? 11 games, 1 goal 2 assists and a minus 5. Some think he is a lock to make the team!
Neither guy given a true shot to make the team. Fighting for a playoff spot does that.
Not gonna argue with people here on either player. No point! 3 games or 11 does not make a career. I root for all of our players, even Mason Raymond lol.
I just hate losing promising prospects. Yet if Wolf signs in Europe I get it. Lots of players for him to beat out to have his shot.
Did he earn a shot with the big club? He really did, more than 3 games. Yet Jooris, Ferland, Granlund did too.
Hope he re signs!

I don't think anyone thinks shore is a lock, more he is one of the 5-6 guys battling for the last two spots they feel will come out on top

Not surprised at all he would rather play at home than in the AHL. It was a good move by the Flames to bring him over and add some size to the depth wingers but unfortunately his lack of speed and the emergence of younger players made his chances of sticking in the NHL slim.
I wonder if DEL fans are hoping he one day plays for EHC Wolfsburg much like NHL fans always hoped Martin St. Louis would play for the Blues.

I think this is great news for both David and the Flames. He wasn't working out here but he seemed well liked and like a hard worker. He clearly needs to work on his skating and he probably will while playing in Germany. Things didn't go badly between Wolf and the Flames so if he does put it all together and improve to the point where he could be an NHL regular. hopefully he keeps the Flames in mind.
This wasn't a bad breakup or anything. Things just didn't work out and it's great for him that he got a shot and learned first hand what he needs to work on, it's also great that the Flames had a chance to see what Wolf had to offer.
