If OK plays in any league other than the NHL, his NHL contract should slide.
If he plays 10 or more games in the NHL, a year of his ELC is burned. If he plays 40 or more games in the NHL, then he has used up a year towards UFA status.
So to answer your question, if he plays in Sweden, his NHL contract should slide.

I am 100% sure that OK in the AHL is a pro year toward UFA. See Patrik Seiloff.

For an 18 or 19 year old to use up a year of their ELC, they must play at least 10 NHL games in a season. Not professional games but NHL games.
The requirements to become an UFA is 7 "accrued" seasons or 27 years of age. An accrued season is defined as a season when a player was on the active roster (note not played, just on the active roster) for 40 NHL games or 30 NHL games for a goalie.
If Kylington spends the whole year in the AHL, it will neither use a year of his ELC or affect his timeline to reach UFA.
Sieloff's 2013-2014 year slid on his ELC because he was 19 years old and didn't play 10 NHL games. It did not affect his UFA status.

If the Flames put him in the AHL and run into injuries on the big club it might happen. One game, big whoop.

Camp will be awesome this year. Lots of stories to follow. I am really curious about this guy, whether or not he is the steal of the draft as many people say.

OMG Kylington is likely better than Weber!!!
Weber got 2 more years in Jr... because there was no NHL in 2004-5.
Kevin Klein drafted in the 2nd round at #37 also drafted by Nashville before Weber got a couple of games the same year as Weber #49 got a partial NHL season. Matt Carle 2 picks before Weber got 12 NHL games plus 12 playoff games in 2005-06.
The Flames pick at #39 didn't get his 11 seconds of the NHL until 2007-08
Almost all of the 2003 best draft ever class got to play an extra 2 years after being drafted before playing an NHL game. I think that Staal, Horton and Zeredev were the only players drafted in 2003 to play in the 2003-04 season.
Phanuef almost made the Flames out of camp but he went straight back to Red Deer for 2 more years as it turned out. Phanuef almost had the same hype as Kylington when Sutter gave him a hug..
any hugs for Kylington from Trevling?
FYI... the #60 pick in the 2003 best Draft ever did not play 1 NHL game. This set a low bar for Kylington to do his part in making the 2015 draft the best draft ever.

For those talking about him seeing NHL action, I think the recent signing up north should be a sobering reminder... Schultz had all kinds of talent and skating ability (and was already 21 or so).
Rushing Kylington would be a huge mistake.
He has the offensive ability. He has the skating. Those things aren't going away.
Teach him how to play the game. The NHL will still be there when he is ready.
I have total faith in Treliving in this regard.

Maybe, but 61 was Maxim Lapierre, 62 was David Backes and 64 was Jimmy Howard.

are you just trolling me to get a light reply and bring down the full wrath of TextCritic and his merry band of internet mullahs upon my head?
I don't know if they did like the absurdity of a 2nd round draft d-man playing in the NHL as an 18 year old discussion or if it is just anything I post. Watch out they could turn on you.

Wow.... I don't get why you're crapping on anyone who seems to be excited about Kylington. Is it because he has a low GRIT score or something? I mean the pick was a steal because it was made at 60, not sooner. As you mentioned, the #60 pick from one of the best drafts ever didn't play 1 game so that means there really aren't any expectations for him to even play a game.
He was a highly touted draft pick a few months ago and we got him with a pick that is mostly worthless since most picks at that range don't pan out. He's shown he has skill and I have faith in the Flames organization that they'll help him fix whatever warts he has on his game.

Yeah, I usually don't get on board with this sort of thing, but it's like you just keep popping up ricardodw and poking in the exact same spot over and over again.
You need to tone it down dude.

1.) Talk nonsense
2.) Play victim when called out
3.) "What high horse?"
Sometimes once in a while you'll post interesting stuff but mostly this is the impression you leave. Before it was amusing in a way but now its just getting annoying, so I think I'll hop on the ignore bandwagon too.
