^ Its weird though because I put kindle in the search box and it couldn't find one. Then it came up with the regular price for today instead of the sale price, which appears to be a good deal?

As I only buy books and records on Amazon, and even then, only if it is a rare copy, and I am too lazy to hunt for it elsewhere, I don't really have many thoughts to do with Amazon. That said, their constantly changing price structure is a bit of a pain in the old behind.

Not the best deals, but I did manage to get a nice UPS and an SD memory card (things I needed anyway) at a nice discount, so can't complain too much.
I had the same issue with adding to my cart though...kept clicking and it wouldn't add.

Any thoughts on the Samsung NX300 camera?

Looks like Amazon's sales were up 93% over a typical day on Prime Day. We sure saw that manifested in our parcel volumes today. Over double what we normally get from Amazon in our office.

I don't doubt that in the States.
The $25 gift card for buying $75 worth of household goods (you'd likely buy anyways) was unreal.

You know, I didn't even look at the sales and we are Prime members. That is a great deal.

Seemed like as good a place to ask as any:
So besides the 2 day shipping and photo storage (and apparently sub-par "black Friday in July" sales) is there much of a benefit to signing up? Is it worth the $80 a year?

Amazon Cloud Drive and Prime original content if you signed up for the US prime account. Prime content has a lot of shows, not great ones mind you, but some.
Neither is available in Canada though.

Maybe it's me, but that doesn't seem like that big of a jump to me. I would think Black Friday, which they tried to benchmark themselves against, would be massively bigger (i.e. 5-10x regular sales).

It pretty much depends how much you use Amazon. For myself, I buy everything but groceries on it. I hate stores, and only go if it is a necessity. So for me, yes, it's worth it.
Also I do some flipping on Amazon. once in a blue moon something comes up so ridiculously cheap, I will buy 20 or 50.... whatever, wait for the stock to dwindle, and price go up, and reload it onto the site with my FBA account, and turn it over. Pretty much no different than buying stocks cheap, and reselling them. But you have to be mega careful. If you find iPhone 3GS cases for 50 cents, they are still worth 50 cents. The best items to do it with I find are watches and DSLR camera gear.

^Camera gear huh? I would have thought that it would obey the usual laws of technology, which is that the price drops rapidly as new models come out and so even if you get it on sale it'll never be worth more than the sale price afterwards.

For most things that's the case, but there items out there that hold their value really well, or in some cases even go up a bit. Not sure what items pylon deals with, but quality lenses, for instance, hold their value well.

Well just signed up for the trial. Already placed two orders.
If they start selling beer I'll never have to leave the house.

It's pretty much like going to the electronics, hardware, home goods, stores without having to leave the house. If you don't mind waiting 2/3 days for something (that you probably have to waste a few hours on a weekend to get otherwise), it's great. It saves some money (well as long as you don't get too trigger happy), but more importantly, it saves time.

Yeah that's kind of what I'm thinking, especially in Cochrane. Couldn't find a waterproof map I needed here in town or at Atmosphere in Calgary, so would have had to make a specific trip to MEC. Saved some gas and a few hours. Think I'll keep it for a year and see how much I use it, but if I start doing it for stuff like that instead of making trips into the city I think it'll pay for itself over the year.

I managed to get a good deal on a Warrior G2 Pro Trapper. Regular $400 down to $240. Arrives today, looking forward to trying it out.
