It's $750k of cap space for a guy who cannot score in Prust. The Canucks already had a ton of bottom 6 wingers. Now they're paying 5.1M for their fourth line winger grinders and have no fourth line center.

And they lose a pick?

Literally Vancouver would be better off if Kassian got hit by a bus.

Prust has been in Montreal enough that my love for him had turned to neutral feelings. I will have no problem hating him.

Not sure why people still like Prust... He has evolved into the perfect Canuck to be honest.... Complaining of referees and diving.... It's a match made in heaven! Prust and Burrows will be best pals to see how many refs they can piss off...

For fun, just google "Prust and dive" (there are quite a number of hits).

I hate that Prust is going to play for the team that I hate the most. I actually like him still after he left the Flames. Not anymore.

You consistently demonstrate a lack of understanding of player value.

Kassian was a guy who scored 10 goals in 42 games on a 1.75M dollar deal playing mostly 3rd line minutes. He's 24. Dude will likely play top 9, if not top 6, minutes in Montreal after which IIRC he's still an RFA.

Prust is making $2.5M as a slow fourth line grinder. He has negative value, because you don't need to pay $2.5M for those guys. Benning appears not to understand this as he's already paying $2.6M for Dorsett, which is itself a laughable deal.

Trading him for a conditional 7th would have been better for them.

He also broke Derek Stepan's jaw with a cheap shot.

And you constantly demonstrate a lack of understanding that hockey is much more than just numbers. Prust is a guy you go to war with, he gives his all for his team and is a leader on the ice. You need character guys to win. Everything for you is numbers and it is really ridiculous and incorrect.

Look, it's really simple. Prust has topped 10 goals once in his career and he's 31. Kassian hit it last year in half a season. If he has a good year, he's a 20 goal guy. Power forwards peak from ages 25-28. There is no world where you make this trade, and there's ABSOLUTELY no reason to do this AND end up with less cap space AND give up a draft pick.

This is so lopsided it's laughable and continues to make a case for Jim Benning as the worst GM in the NHL and it's only one year in.

Don't get all the love still for Prust. People seem to be white-washing his whiny, d.bag moves with the Habs. Loved him as a Flame. Perfect fit for the Canucks now.

Look forward to a season of Engelland/Prust battles.

Prust has morphed into a d-bag since being in Montreal so he fits in well with the Canucks but he's close to being a part time player in his career. Not sure how this improves that team whatsoever.

Vancouver needed someone to match up against Ferland for next season.
