The sabres got rid of a pair of head cases and a 2nd for a legit #2 center to play behind Eichel. Nice job.

Stop. There is zero need to go through that again.

This draft gets interesting at #3. Come on Buffalo, lets just get the formalities out of the way.

Great move for Buffalo, I thought the Avs could have gotten a better return. Let the debate begin on if they would have been better off taking the Flames compensation years ago.

So many big trades already and hopefully more to come. I don't even care the Flames won't be picking tonight.

Buffalo did well here. Don't like it for the Avs

nm wrong thread

...buuut since I'm here, that sounds like quite a bit for ROR, especially considering his rumoured contract demands.

Who is the guy on the NHL.com audio feed saying Buffalo overpaid and now has the problem of too many centres? This is not an over payment and that is never a problem.

To me that seems like a terrible deal for Colorado.

Zadorov is the key to the deal. Huge potential.

Then, throw those notes away and keep doing what you've been doing.

Yeah - those who say the Sabres overpaid aren't paying attention.
Great day for Buffalo

I've accepted that no matter what people hate on other teams.

Trade away veterans and expiring contracts for picks/prospects? Tankers!

Trade away picks/prospects for solid young established players? Overpayment!

I don't know about this deal. ROR has always been really good, but never great. McGinn is a decent depth forward. Two nice pieces, but the cost is extremely high. Grigorenko is a major flight risk now, but could still be a great asset. Zadorov, in my mind, is still going to be a very, very good defenseman. Common theme with both players is that they were unhappy with the Sabres organization treatment of them IIRC. Compher is underrated and a little undersized, but is a nice additional piece. Adding in the 31st overall pick is complete larceny by the Avs who were in tough to re-sign ROR. Buffalo definitely gets the best player, but that is a lot to give up to get him.

If ROR goes UFA this will look bad.
