In a weird, macabre way, these killings can be seen as positive in that it seems to me that ISIS did not want to go down the terrorist acts in other countries route but with recent losses they may be wanting to keep the group in the media spotlight. As much as killing, I think ISIS enjoys the publicity and fear factor. They finally met an adversary in the Kurds who were willing to fight, and they got routed. I see today's events as sending a message to their base that they are still relevant.

Let's assume that it is. Our foreign policy should still not be dictated by terrorists.

So frustrating that for decades, US foreign policy was so slanted against the Muslim World. It provided fertile ground for extremist groups like ISIS to prosper. Sadly, now the Conservative Government have chosen to disregard history, and copy American foreign policy. In hindsight, the Western powers should have been more respectful to the Arab world, and not exploited them due to the fact that they have unlimited supply of oil. We are certainly paying for it in the 21st century.
Do you honestly believe people slaughter other people at a resort in Tunisia because they are upset with North American foreign policy?

Countries like Saudi Arabia have been funding and actively spreading this violent philosophy for decades. It was no secret. They spent billions doing it:

ISIS is the monster they created that has they've now lost control over. I guess they didn't realize that things like having kings are also against Islam before they started preaching violence.

As long as the dictatorships are living like kings while their people are poor, the kings will lie and direct hate elsewhere. It has spiraled out of control.

There was also 145 people killed in a massacre in the town of Kobani in Syria by Isis on the same day.

Isis had stated they wanted to ramp up the violence to non-muslims and non- extremist muslims during Ramadan.

It can not be a coincidence that these attacks were not coordinated in some way.

The NDP is as relevant to this topic as Harper or Israel are, but that never stopped you. Once again, congratulations on making this thread about yourself.

Bravo.

The Kurdish peshmerga is not an enemy they want. When it comes to killing machines the Peshmerga is a fricking well oiled death machine. I for one am glad they finally joined the fight outside Kurdish territory.

The NDP was just an example. There are 3 major parties in Canada (well 4 if you include the Greens), and you are stating that we should vote against one of them to appease terrorists. Whether that's the NDP or the Liberals is inconsequential to my point.

For the record I don't vote Conservative either. My point was that you are clearly exploiting these tragedies, which have nothing to do with Canada, to push your own political agenda.

Now you are just being ridiculous. I just stated that I disagree with the Canadian Governments foreign policy. Why should we meddle in these types of affairs anyway, by unconditionally supporting Israel, and sending troops into Iraq area to battle the problem. It's only going to make Canada more vulnerable, on our home front.

Canadians kept out of Vietnam, and nobody questions that decision. Yet if it were up to the Conservatives, we would have been part of the Iraq invasion of 2003. Do you honestly agree with that stance, looking back in hindsight? I guess the Government were "appeasing" to the terrorists, even though the whole "Iraq has WMD's" was a outright lie. Can you honestly say the Middle East is a safe place, after the American occupation of Iraq? I think Canada should keep out of the Middle East affairs, and let the regional powers fight it out.

If that makes me sound like I am "exploiting" this tragedy, for my own personal gain, so be it.

For those who missed it, the behavior of the Tunisians during the attack was so amazingly brave. There are several accounts by different tourists, but this...

I am truly at lost for words.

“I was on the beach when he started shooting. We got everyone back towards the hotel, but he followed us. He targeted the foreigners but not the Tunisians.

“When he saw a Tunisian he shouted out 'Get out of the way' and shot at foreigners.”
Response of the Tunisians?
