It's good to see Red Deer growing. Unfortunately, the city is still growing using an outdated planning model hell-bent on suburb growth. Would really be nice if they'd get moving on the downtown redevelopment and make something interesting of the river valley. The city needs to grow some independence and actually stand for something other than a rest stop.

I think the river valley is nice.
From west to east you have:
Maskepetoon Park, Red Deer G & C Club, Great Chief Park, Bower Ponds, Geatz Bird Sanctuary, Three Mile Bend.
It is a nice natural area.

Airdrie, conversely, is a horrid, vinyl-sided, suburbia-run-amok, depressing, two-story awfulville that doesn't even have its own water supply. I think we should just shut off the tap once in a while to fata with them and swing our dick around a bit. Let them know what's up and who butters their bread.

Haha, that is rich coming from a fella that lives in a man made lake community.

A hundred thousand people is not enough to stop our armies on their inevitable rush northwards to level the gangrenous hellhole known as Edmonton. Gasoline Alley will be nothing more than a refueling stop for our battle tanks and APCs as they race on towards final victory.

Yep, but when O&G bounces back McMurray will catch up and pass Red Deer eventually.

Kind of like having our very own West Bank and Gaza Strip. We could snipe a few pot shots their way from the roof of Bass Pro too.

On a related note, Lethbridge just announced that it's population count is 94,804.

Yes, it is. I checked it out Saturday at 7:00. It's insanely busy, at least a 20 car lineup. It's drive-thru only, on the west side of Gasoline Alley. There was no way I was going to wait over 30 minutes for a milkshake at Peter's Drive In, so I settled for Dairy Queen. I hate the location. It would have been so much better, if they opened it up in the river valley, but I suppose they got a much better deal from the county.

Drove past yesterday about the same time, the line up circled the building and was several cars deep down the access road.

The wait at Peter's can be 30-40 mins depending on the time and day you attempt to go. Recently, I've found it to be no worse than a couple of the Timmie's Drive-thru's we have in town, particularly the one on 67th St.
