Man those Hawks are an amazing team. Bettman called them a dynasty, so I wonder if the NHL will officially recognize them. 3 cup wins, and 5 conference finals appearances in 7 years. All built around that core of Hossa, Kane, Toews, Seabrook and Keith. Truly one of the best 5 man units in recent memory and easily the best core in the NHL today. I can only dream of the Flames being competitive like them one day.
Now for the evil 4 month drought of no hockey. Soon we'll have the draft and UFA day to look foward to. But after that, the dog days of summer are here.
Achieving this in the salary cap era is no easy feat. Have to give the organization major props. Its one thing to win one season and dismantle, but to keep challenging over half a decade, winning several times in that span -- very impressive. Also the core players clearly have the desire to keep winning, they haven't settled on their previous success. They could win more too.

Hell the dog days started a few days after the Flames were bounced for me. After such a high of following the team, it was hard to watch the playoffs the rest of the way with the same enthusiasm as previous years when Flames failed to make it at all.
But yes to the rest of the past. Hawks are friggen incredible, and their captain is a beauty.

There is no reason for Bettman to hand out the Cup. It should be presented by a franchise legend - ex. Hull, Mikita, Esposito.
I disagree, even though I want to agree. The Cup is presented by the NHL who is represented by Gary. Former legends represent themselves, or in some cases the club who won, so it doesn't make much sense to have them present it.
I do wish the NHL included their legends a bit more in some capacity, like the Bruins & Habs do.
As an aside, I have to change the channel at the end of the superbowl because I think it's so stupid to present the trophy to the owner first. OK I get it, the owner pays the players. But the QB and/or MVP and/or team Captains should receive it first. They are the ones that did the work. Gear grinder.

The odd guy out is (unfortunately) Gio, who is as old as Keith. Hopefully he will play a long time (though I don't like the fact he's had two long injuries in two years).

People need to quit worrying about his injuries so much. He's had a broken bone and a torn muscle. It's not like he's got a history of concussions or a bad back. He'll be fine.

Isn't every other champtionship handed out by the commissioner?
Who would have handed it out to Tampa had they won? Roman Hamrlik?
Richards was in the building.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.
