Btw something didn't know and I suspect most others don't either:
Transracial is apparently 'a thing'. It seems it's the preferred word to be used instead of interracial by at least some people studying interracial transracial adoptions.
So for example a chinese kid adopted to a white family would be a transracial adoptee, and everybody in the family can have transracial experiences.
Won't go as far as trying so say what that means exactly. Would have to read the papers.

I don't think everyone in the family gets to claim transracial, which sucks because I'm paying a fortune to put my kid through uni and she's lived her whole life with native foster kids some of which she considers part of her family, I could do with her being able to claim she's native and get free tuition.
...but then there's the problem that if we accept that changing your race is possible, we would soon probably see white students claiming to be of a minority race to get affirmative action benefits.

The whole "all natives get free university tuition" isn't true. My wife is from an aboriginal reserve, I also have lots of aboriginal friends. They all had to pay their way through school. Sure, there may be some scholarships here and there, but there's no "free tuition box" you check on your university application for being First Nations.

I think it depends on the band. When I went to university, my roommate was native and he told me his fees were covered. Unless he was lying, but he was childhood friend that I grew up with so I trust him.

I watched another interview where she now states that she doesn't believe that her parents are her biological parents and there's no way to prove that they are, and she basically wouldn't believe anything that tells her that they're her biological parents.
She's caught so deep in her lies both professionally and to herself that to me she comes across as crazy.
She also bases her theory that her parents aren't her biological parents based around the date of issue of her birth certificate being dated a month and a half after her birth.
Its clear that she's very smart, its clear that she worked hard to get to where she's at and where she got to. Its clear that her credibility is gone, her bio and her life is based on a lie.

In the NWT, they had a program where for every three years you spent in the public school system there, the territorial government would pay for one year of university. Don't know if they still have that program, but was it in place 20 years ago.

If only there was some type of test that could be done to confirm or refute if they are her parents.....if only...

It my sense that the territorial government would pay for university, but basically had a return of service agreement. The students has to move back to NWT to work.

Every status native kid I've ever cared for has had access to free tuition, if this is just some weird anomaly my apologies but as far as I can tell education and health care are pretty standard treaty obligations.
Now, she said, she identifies as trans-black, a term she wishes people will embrace and accept.
Moving forward, she plans to go by her new name, Nkechi Amare Diallo, which she legally changed last year and is a West African moniker that means “gift from the gods.” That name change, she said, was inspired, in part, to give her a better chance of finding work.
