Betting line has Chicago as a 57-43 favorite (-130). Not quite as lopsided as posters here are making it out to be. This is also hockey where there is parity abounds.

I'm going for the Lightning!
I love when non-traditional markets succeed. It just sends the hockey "purists" up the wall and that makes me happy. It's also really healthy for the league and Tampa is a pretty decent market.

I disagree 100% with your reasoning and I think it's sick.
However; I am putting my $10 and rooting against Chicago, in order to save the $10 I've lost betting on Anaheim.

Tampa in 6. I picked them at the start of the playoffs, may as well keep betting on them.

I had a Tampa / Anaheim final with Tampa winning, so my bracket's busted, though I had all the conference final participants picked right. Still, I'll keep Tampa over Chitown.
Tampa's top six is clearly the stronger group right now. Their bottom six was terrible against NYR, but generally I'd give them the edge too. Outside of Hedman, who for me is as good as anyone on the Hawks, the Hawks have better top tier defenders, but it does thin out for them. Goaltending is basically a wash; maybe a slight nod to Bishop who is playing well.
It should be a fun series of up tempo hockey.

I was worried that Kruger might be hurt, after Kessel ran him into the bench late in game 7 of the WCF...he did not return after the hit (BTW, the puck was long gone...and Kessel is a dirtbag)...but...Kruger practiced on Tuesday, and looks good to go.
I expect the 'Hawk lines to be:
Saad/Toews/Kane
Bickell/Richards/Hossa
Sharp/Vermette/TT
Dejardins/Kruger/Shaw
Keith/Seabrook/Hjalmarsson/Oduya mixing and matching
and one of the above with Cumiskey or TVR (possibly Rundblad)
It would not shock me to see Timonen get dressed for one game, especially if the 'Hawks get to a series lead.

Great article in the Sun today about Stamkos. Might be enough to move me over to the Lightning bandwagon...
Quote:
Although he is just 25, it has been a long road for Stamkos to get here, one sprinkled with potholes. And now that he’s arrived, he doesn’t want to blow it.

By the time Steven Stamkos was a teenager, you could tell the kid’s upside was limitless. Just ask Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane, who recalls facing Stamkos in junior during the 2006-07 season

In 2008. Stamkos was drafted first overall by the Lightning.
“Now, here we are seven years later,” he said, referring to his matchup against Kane and the Hawks in the final.

I will always despise the Lightning franchise because of '04. But I can't find a single player on that team I don't like. From Stamkos, Johnson to Hedman. Even up to Yzerman in the GM box and Feaster doing his thing. Just a team of likeable characters who are fun to watch.
Really excited to watch these finals more so then in years past.

I really like those guys too...but it's about the crest on the front, not the name on the back. I hate the lightning. I want them to lose, but not just lose in a hard fought series, I want them to get completely bent over and have every call against them and every goal questioned and occasionally overturned for no reason. I hate the fact that they're in the finals even if I like the players....and what are they supposed to say? "I can't wait to go golfing or whatever, summer is awesome!" I'm sure if they ask any player on the hawks, it'll be much the same. (I'm not taking this out on you, it's the lightning hate coming out in me). I'll just be happy if the hawks win but I'll be even more happy if everything goes wrong for the lightning...that crappy crap team!

There are no characters that I don't like on the Lightning, just hate the franchise itself simply because of '04. Even if I was super young in 2004. I hope they get to realize what it's like to lose in a final, haha

Hard to bet against the Hawks. They just know what it takes and have the personnel that step up when it matters. If anyone had a shot at beating them it was the Ducks. I have more confidence in Tampa this year than I had with the Rangers last year though meaning I wouldn't be completely shocked if Tampa pulled it off. Hawks in 6.

Agree with everything you said. There's not a player on the lightning I don't like, and no longer any players on that team from '04. Also a huge fan of Yzerman and everything he's done.
