Hudler will have arguably more value at deadline when most of salary is paid off. Lots of teams will be cap challenged this off season. That's if we trade him at all.
Hard to say what Florida does, they are getting pretty desperate for playoffs and to sell the game in Florida.

Agreed. I think if Florida does any deal, they would do it for a good veteran player to add some offense. Honestly, Hudler makes a lot of sense. I just don't see the Flames moving him.

Moving Hudler only makes any sense if they are set to acquire two top 6 RW like Justin Williams + someone. Remember that teams can negotiate before July 1st now, so the Flames would have a good idea of who is interested and their asks.

Moving Hudler makes sense if the return makes sense.

If Crouse was the faller to 15, I wouldn't cry if the Flames took him, but like you I don't see the upside of wasting extra picks on him.
If you watch the Tod Button video on Flames TV, Button clearly says that the Flames prioritize offensive skill over everything else. So that basically eliminates Crouse from us picking him anywhere in the first round. Even at 15 probably.

13 + 15 for the 7th pick is an overpayment. If we somehow get the 13th pick without giving up 15, I'd rather keep both rather than trade for 7

Here's a Philly fan forum talking about that 7th pick http://www.hockeyforums.net/index.ph...-draft/page-1#

Sounds like if they are going trade that 7th they want to shed average to poor defenseman and their contacts, and upgrade their D as well.

MacDonald
Grossman
Schenn
Shultz
Streit

Andrew MacDonald was a good player on NYI. He could be a prime 'buy low' candidate.

On the other hand he has a cap hit of $5 million until 2020.

Pretty high risk, some would say.

He's a cap dump

Schenn would be a better targer, but he sucks too

I just looked up his numbers - he's played 75 games once, in 2011-12. Otherwise, has never missed fewer than 19 games in a season.

Can't rely on that. Pass.

I wonder if the playoff run will change their thinking. They've been clear they're not going into win now mode, but will they be less interested in picking up someone else's garbage?

Were they ever interested in picking up someone else's garbage, or was that just us armchair GMs?

Hopefully 52 + 53 can get us into the 25ish range and we can pick up one of Chabot / Zboril or Meloche

If Sharks were looking for a goalie, would Hiller at 50% retained, our 3rd and 15th OA move us up 6 spots? Werenski, Provorov or Rantanen would be a great pick.

Was interesting that Conroy said he didn't think they would want to move down when they did for Jankowski because they had a group of players they liked at 14. Seemed like he thought they moved down too far and out of the range of players they really liked. Kind of seems like Weisbrod might have overriden the scouts a little.
