No, if he had a concussion he wouldn't even be at the practice.

Let's break it down:
Funny, if Bennett plays one more game we burn a year off his contract Now established that he's still another game away from that happening, which is a pretty important fact in the matter.
...and he's magically missing from practice today. He's on the ice, taking reps with the top line. Almost the opposite of missing.
Beyond that, even if this was the big game (which again, it isn't) there are plenty of explanations for why Bennett isn't practicing with his regular line, that don't include the 9-game rule. Those include: injuries to others, injuries to himself, mixing up lines because of a poor outing last game, Hartley trying to throw Anaheim scouts a bone, and finally a decline in performance prompting Hartley to hold him out of the lineup for hockey reasons.
Consider the null hypothesis: Hartley (with full intentions of winning the Cup) was planning to ride Bennett through the first round, halfway into the second round, only to sit him abruptly because of this rule. Not only have management's prior decisions/statements indicated that this rule will not play a factor, but Hartley's past decisions show no indication of a coach who anticipates sitting a player for a non-hockey reason.

Mohtadi hasn't done any surgery for me, but I assume he's really great at his job because he's employed by the Calgary Flames.

I never thought I'd be so happy to hear that Diaz is returning to the Flames lineup soon.... at least we could role a full 3 d parings then.

I think Bennett slots in for Hudler tomorrow but only for a game or so. Hopefully that doesn't just make the Flames even easier to shutdown.

Ten years betwwen, all hockey injuries and reinjuries. Mini capsular shifts and revions. Still play hockey at 51, I am sure people question my sanity, but love it.

Hudler hasn't had anything on his shot since after he scored in the LA game where he got beaten up pretty good.
Wasn't himself at all in the Vancouver series, especially on the road. Not that he needs to tee shots up (though he did against the Kings), but whatever it is, is likely affecting the ability to fire hard passes as well.
Probably aggravated whatever was bothering him, or a complimentary injury.
If he plays, I bet he doesn't play a lot 5 on 5, and he just comes out for the PP, which is why they have Bennett cycling through the lines.

Was hoping he'd be at practice today, since he was at optional practice yesterday.

May 2 Practice - Giordano (limited contact) & Hudler return!
What were the Flames doing Saturday night? Wonder who was cheering for who

I think they're watching Brandon Bollig as a child actor.

Definitely not the only one who fell asleep during that fight.

I have been wanting to see Bennett and Gaudreau play together since Bennett's first game up. If there was no concern over the Flames losing depth by playing them together I would like to see them regularly shifted on a line. They're both fast, skilled and smart. They just seem like they could catch fire together.
