"Who do you want to win the cup if your team is out?"

If the Isles get bounced, I'm hopping on the Flames bandwagon. That team represents everything great about hockey.

Flames are my second favorite team. Besides, I really like Johnny Gaudreau a lot. Some of the things he does remind me of Datsyuk. I am naturally glad to see Hudler do so well in Calgary.

Calgary has nowhere near the quality of roster as every other team (atleast on paper), and yet here they are hanging in there with pure heart, teamwork and a never-say-die attitude. They're the definition of underdogs. Who doesn't like a good underdog story? Calgary all the way.

Disappointed Flames series not on CBC instead of Sportsnet (Rangers/Caps is).
This makes no sense to me.
Makes more sense to bring more viewers to your own network than another network, regardless if you get the revenue you still want your brand to be splattered across the screen.
Why would they encourage keeping CBC as "the place for playoff hockey"? The quicker they can make it irrelevant, the better for Sportsnet.

I won't post it here because he is a troll, but wow is Lambert's article on FlamesNation a doozy. You can taste the salt through the internet.

That's the most frustrating thing with these analytic guys.
No matter what happens to the Flames, if they don't win the cup this year AND next year, it'll be "things catching up to them".
In his article he claimed the Sedin line "owned" the Stajan line by dominating possession. If he had any hockey knowledge what so ever, he'd know that the Sedins game plan is to get the other team to chase them to open up space. He'd also know that the Flames let them control the perimeter because the Sedins are useless at splitting the D. Then, if he put those pieces together, even HE would realize that the Flames plan worked to a tee and the Sedins had 4 measly points.

If a proprietor of a website is willing to post garbage troll lambort articles, then he/she runs a garbage site that I simply refuse to visit. I have zero respect for how that site is run, which is too bad.GFG

I think the Flames are going to have to out-score Anaheim this series; trying to grind out 2-1 wins is going to be difficult because of how strong and deep the Ducks are. That means the top line is going to have to stay hot, and out-score the Getzlaf line. It will also mean the Backlund line will need to match the Kesler line in terms of production (or at least be relatively close).
Hiller played extremely well in Round 1 and I'm glad he got the start tonight.
It will be a much different task facing the Ducks (compared to the Canucks) but I think the Flames are up for the challenge. GFG!
Things didn't catch up to them. They made the playoffs AND upset a higher seeded team.
Losing to the Ducks or anything after isn't "Things catching up to you", it's the expected result.
You were wrong.
The way you analyze hockey is flawed.
There is no "SEEE! I told you so!" when the Flames lose in OT in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. Sorry.
Exactly. The Flames are in the 2nd year of a rebuild and have made the 2nd round of the playoffs (so far). They also were sellers at the deadline by picking up two 2nd rounders and one 3rd round pick in this year's draft. This season is nothing but a success, no matter how they finish up.
I'm not so sure that playing keep away along the boards and shooting wide of the net is the best way to give out Stanley Cup rings. Luckily the NHL still gives them to the teams that can score more goals against teams.
It takes an average sized man to admit when he's wrong. Lambert is a small, petty man. It's a sad state when he criticizes a team for working hard and developing chemistry. If he worked harder maybe his articles wouldn't suck.
