tonight should be interesting, the home team has been the better team - is this a homer series? or have the Flames just adjusted and gotten more comfortable or better.
I am going to say the latter and we see the Flames wrap it up tonight.

Uh, easy. The Ducks have been really good for a long time, and the Flames have not been very good over that time (especially since 2009) and have been on the decline until this season. Plus, they are also an excellent home team, making the odds of winning less for every single visiting team, not just the Flames. You could argue that the previous group had difficulty winning against them purely due to being a poor match, but since the entire group has changed it has nothing to do with the Flames as a team now.
It's a small sample size, and just because something that occurred in the past is overwhelmingly in favor of one side, it's statistically improbable, and it does not change the odds of winning an individual game, which is most often 50/50, but closely aligns with winning percentage. While past performance is an interesting thing to look at and has some predictive power, it does not make a perfect predictor of future events. There's no reason to believe that the inability to win crucial games remains endemic to an organization longer than within a season or two of play.

The Flame stat is irrelevant because the games span over 2 generations of the team, and who pays attention to game 2s anyway.
The Canuck one was real, as they had at least a half dozen guys in their room that have felt those losses, and likely have some dread in their heads.
The finish series stuff going back 11 years won't effect anything.
The team is young and every new experience is exactly that.
|
Yep, this team has the luxury of having a fresh start. However, if they manage to blow the next 3 games, then I think it starts to loom over them in years to come that they haven't been able to win or finish off a series in 12+ years.
So better make sure we finish it off in the next couple games and exorcise all those demons.

Too early to worry about Anaheim, one thing at a time.

Jets/Thrashers have been swept in their only two playoff series despite totally different teams. Their streak of losing playoff games continues. Bottom line is that regardless of the current players or coaches it's still a fact the Flames are on a streak of losing playoff games where they have teams on the ropes. Until that streak is broken it's very relevant.

How do you explain it? Players' brains change because they wear a particular uniform? An actual curse? A secret deal between owners?
I explain it simply that the Ducks have been good in that time frame and the Flames have tended not to be as good.

My absolute favourite quality of this team is that they are too young and too stupid to know that they aren't supposed to win

What does that have to do with anything? Those teams are different, they had #12 on that team and a tense group with Sutter watching from above.
This is something new, when did those team ever go up 3-1? Never.
The flames will finish the job tonight. I hope the Canucks line rushes are them getting ready for the hand shake line. I want them to line up in numerical order.
The Canucks are exactly who we thought they where, hot garbage.

All business and no shenanighans tonight. Everyone plays a role in shutting down the canucks and we win 4-1. They obviously get one lucky bounce.

Also relevant is the fact that you picked the Canucks to win the series Erik so that is one more reason for you to be picking them to win tonight..... Are you a real Flames fan? Can you not see that this is a Team with a capital T? I've been supporting them since 72..through the bad and the good but I prefer to keep a positive look at things. This group is evolving in the right direction and therefore only a miracle can save your prediction.... 4- 2 Flames tonight!
I mean , come on..No capitain, No Boums, No Diaz (never thought I would say this) and they still make the nucks look like the wonder kids up north (disorganized with half a game plan!)...

I don't think this has been a homer series, its been the Flames series. We had a bad start in games 1 and 2, but in game 1 I thought we took over the game in the 2nd period. Game 2 Canucks played better. Games 3 and 4 we ran them out of the rink.
All we need to do is counter Vancouver who will probably come out over aggressive and pot a few early ones, which we will do.

well they have lost a couple first round series since the last riot, so I don't see it happening either, it only happens when they think they are going win the cup and don't
and they should of won on home ice in Game 7

This is going to be like game four, but dialed up to 11. Vancouver is going to come out hard, and they are going to press hard. Need to weather the storm, come out of it even, then counterattack. It would be helpful if the Canucks agreed to take stupid, selfish penalties again.
