Huska is also up in Calgary now, too.

I was sure they showed McGratton and his wife on the jumbotron before the game Sunday.

Good, he can learn to coach from Hartley because he did a less then desirable job in the AHL this year. Not just results but generally. Hartley needs to pass along some of his wisdom and skills to him.

Hanowski has been injured and missed the last 7 games, but so is Cundari, Culkin and Hathaway. Cundari missed the last 7 games of the season, Culkin has been out with the cut wrist tendon but skating hard and doing training for next year and Hathaway missed the last 3 games.

I really hope he's not invited due to injury rather then future plans. I like Hanowski. I would hope he's being brought back even just to lead the AHL Flames as he was a leader in that room and would now be considered a veteran and start giving that AHL team a veteran core to support all the rookies coming in. He is absolutely needed in that dressing room.

Great idea to get these guys here to get a taste of the playoff atmosphere and intensity at which everything is at, and what it takes to get to this level.

And for those guys to see former teammates like Ferland and Wotherspoon step in and be a part of it all...should drive these guys' hunger to follow in footsteps.

Overall, fantastic for the overall development of these guys.

Meanwhile, up north, any callups will be used as labour to start to get Rectal ready for the coronation ceremony at the end of June, so they better know how to swing a hammer and shine a scepter.

Carroll, Hathaway, Morrisson, and Stevenson are technically not call ups. Just joining the team. None of those guys have valid NHL contracts for this season.

Interesting that they brought up Stevenson.

Like those other three, he doesn't have an NHL contract for this season.....but he is the only one who doesn't have one for next season either. I wonder if that means they plan on signing him to an NHL deal next year?

Who would have guessed that Wotherspoon would have outlasted Baertschi in the Flames organization back in 2012?

Hopefully the Flames can make it past Vancouver and have a good 2nd round push as well. Obviously for the playoffs but a great secondary benefit is having these prospects for an extra month working on skills and drills alone. It's a free prospect and training camp.

You're only allowed one prospect camp a summer, then the main one in the fall. Having this freebie should pay dividends for the organization.

That's something I never even thought about and your right. This allows the players to see how the flames play and the be around the culture of the team so they know better whats expected of them.

Sorry if fata, but a quick feature on the death of the enforcer.
Significant amount of time spent with McGratton (who i wish was also a Black Ace)

I was at winsport this morning and saw the aces skate. It was tricky without a roster as I don't know these guys by sight but it was really cool. I was right near the boards. These guys are massive and fast. The shots were amazing.

I am pretty sure gillies was in net. He had new gear but still looked good. MASSIVE man. Can't stress enough how big he is.

Wolf seemed to be the standout to me. Everything he shot went in and he definitely has some major swagger out there. He also stopped and talked to some kids on his way off the ice and was really nice to them.

They all looked ready to step in. It really highlighted to me how good the roster players actually are.

Also, Hartley and my boss and his dog got a shot together. Boss said Bob was really a cool guy and they chatted a while.

Saw Ramo walk in wearing what must be a euro suit. Very tight. It was funny. Also saw three guys in workout gear getting ready to go on after. Raymond was one but I did not know the other two.

Also shook treliving's hand and said thanks for the year. He was appreciative and said "thanks , but we are not done yet"

Thus endeth my mini report.

Wolf might have some part to play in these playoffs. If Bollig of Ferland pick up an injury I know who I would want to tag in...

With Ferland, Bouma and Wolf, we're set for agitators for a while. I would suggest that we reach out and hire Ville Niemenen in order to mentor these fine individuals, but I think we're okay...
