If Troutman is correct that is huge. Bsst news we could hope for. I was worried it would be only 4.
I think our change of strategy on the sedins to oncede possession below the dot was because our d is too tired to challenge physically. We only have 4 d who are playing and they need a week in a hyperbaric chambr to recover.
diaz in the short term is critical and really working wotherspoon and schlemko over the time off is essential if we have a hope.

Wolf is IMO a decent Bollig replacement and I wouldn't mind unleashing him for a few minutes if Bollig gets injured (but that's the only case)
As for the other black aces, I'd be thrilled to see Emile Poirier and his wheels in this series but realistically, I don't think Hartley will rely on another rookie with Bennett and Wotherspoon already in the lineup.

fixed your post. still feel like I missed a rookie.
Sportsnet has a video Gio skating, shooting and handling the puck. I can't see him needing more than 2 weeks at this point, he could be back in round 2 if the series goes past 5 games. That's my unprofessional, fully biased hopeful opinion.

BOLD prediction time.
Flames are playing coy right now, and in a surprise move, Giordano suits up for game 1 against the ducks sporting a special arm brace.
Deryk Engelland and David Schlemko break down in tears of joy and relief upon hearing this news.
I think the Flames are at a point now, where they might be willing to risk pushing Gio in a little early, as long as Gio is willing. I would also expect to possibly see him paired with Engelland if he does for reduced ES minutes, and to also assure that nobody takes any liberties with him. But use him on the top PP pairing. He could be an X-factor in this series.
I could see:
Russel - Wideman
Brodie - Schlemko
Giordano - Engelland

Again, unless something changed recently he still needs to see the surgeon to get a better idea of where his recovery is.
Its great to see him handling the puck, but I have a hard time believing that he'll come back 2 months ahead of schedule.

Dude tore his bicep - and not a muscle, but a tendon. One of his roles on the ice is to shoot the puck. With his arm.
Hard to imagine he's anything less than three weeks away. Even that is wildly optimistic.

Biceps is singular. There is no bicep

Skating around doesn't mean much to me, Gio hurt his arm, not his legs. When I see him take a slapshot I'll be convinced he's coming back. As it is I bet he's still a month away at best unless he's under hardcore rehab everyday.

He was in the gym right after he came home. Given his work ethic one would expect him to rehab like crazy.
But, it doesn't necessarily make an injury heal faster.

Sure could use Bouma back for the Ducks series. Especially now that Ferland has had his coming out party. Take Raymond back out.

I would think the chances of Diaz coming back are way higher
(Forgot about the Wotherspoon giveaway; regardless, Anahaims big forwards will be a lot to handle and I think we need our bottom pairing D to play bigger minutes)

If Giordano can play dress 7 D and double shift gaudreau with Jooris and Bouma (hopefully)

That doesn't make a lot of sense since we're essentially playing with 5 d right now. We would dress gio and still have wotherspoon play 2 minutes a game at the expense of a forward?

Playing with 5 D will catch up to us. It's just a matter of time. Unfortunately, there's no one who can step in other than Potter so you might as well bump up Wotherspoon to the 8-10 minute range.
Late third round for Gio is what I heard on the radio. And Lance was skating with no stick so I'm doubting he's ready either.

The reason I paired him with Engelland, is nobody would to be stupid enough, to go after his arm, with Engelland smash on the ice. It was a preposterous idea by me anyway, but if I had Gio out thee for a limited role, I would want him with Darth Engelland ES, and PP time Brodie only.
