Should we expect a timely BB playoff rant to the media, or does he not do that as President?

Would the Flames really be that much worse off without Engelland? They'd lose out in the toughness department for sure, but I think Wotherspoon would be at least as competent as a defenceman.
No, he wouldn't, not right now anyway. If he is, he would be in instead of Potter.

Of course they are. Scared now that their tough guy couldn't get the job done and that what Engelland did was perfectly allowable,not able to hide behind him doing something illegal as to why Dorsett got fed his lunch.

When our 5th defenseman playing around 20 minutes beats down their goon twice in 3 minutes, the second being a handicap match loss, there's really not much you can say about the Flames worrying about being intimidated from this point forward.

10k is the automatic fine for the instigator in the final 5 minutes. Since the instigator was rescinded that fine doesn't apply. This is an entirely separate fine and is a reputation fine based on Hartley's history.

Calgary Flames Head Coach Bob Hartley has been fined $50,000 for his responsibility for the incident that took place with 1:17 remaining in regulation of the first-round playoff game in Vancouver on Friday, April 17, the National Hockey League announced today. The fine was issued in accordance with By-Law 17.3 (a) for conduct prejudicial to or against the welfare of the League.

In addition, the National Hockey League announced that the game misconduct penalty assessed to Calgary Flames defenseman Deryk Engelland for instigating a fight in the last five minutes of regulation has been rescinded.

Hartley was fined $25,000 for a similar incident during the 2013-14 regular season.

The fine money goes to the NHL Foundation.

I absolutely abhor the fact the NHL can fine coaches for playing players.....because thats what they have done here.

The NHL accepted the SPC for that player but now gets to say when they shouldn't be played during a game. That's a joke IMO.

Fine with no suspension, pissed with the fine, even more pissed that the league didn't suspend Richardson.

Hopefully Ferland or Engelland take care of that piece of garbage tomorrow night.

Hartley fined for putting out the only players who did anything the whole game? Bush league.

I'll take it a step farther, and suggest we aren't in the playoffs right now without him. Not just his stellar defensive play, but the 2 goals he scored against Dallas out of absolutely nowhere, secured a loser point for us.

The guy was a poor mans Robin Regehr the last 20 games of the season. Rock solid.

Fine is likely for putting/keeping Bollig out on the ice for the next face off, who promptly got a 10 minuter before the puck dropped.

He has been good since he got a decent partner to play with. The Hiller and Engelland signings have been very important to the success we had this season.

Still garbage. 45 seconds after the 4-1 goal. At the end of a shift. Unwarranted, but don't really care.
It's good

You say that as though Bollig did something to get that 10min misconduct. You realize he hadn't even had the chance to do anything and the ref simply gave him the misconduct to get him off the ice before he could. Refs do that all the time, to get rid of "goons" at the end of the game.

Just to throw gas on the fire, the reaction from the main Canucks blog:

Quote:
Meanwhile, it’s been announced that Deryk Engelland has had his instigator penalty rescinded, which means he won’t get an automatic suspension for Game 3. That’s honestly some pretty good news for Canucks fans, as Engelland is pretty bad at hockey and the Flames insist on playing him big minutes alongside TJ Brodie.
Rage explosion in 5... 4...

I honestly never care about fines, except to the extent it creates repeat offender status. It ain't my money and these guys make plenty of it.

If they thing think Engelland is bad they're in for a rude awakening once they pay attention. He was so freaking solid last night everywhere, one of our best players.

Who was on the ice?

Number of fights during the regular season:
Dorsett = 17
Hamhuis = 2
Sbisa = 2
Richardson = 2
Matthias = 0

TOTAL = 23
Bollig = 8
Engelland = 7
Ferland = 2
Stajan = 0
Potter = 0

TOTAL = 17

Clearly, it was all Hartley's fault. Taking liberties with the poor little Canucks.

LOL. As much as you're trying to create one, it won't happen over this. Everyone pretty much knows anything coming from that d.bag fan base is meaningless drivel.
