I'm working hard to rally some troups to make the Friday nighter.
Honestly - would I have to worry about wearing a Flames jersey?

No. Unless you start getting into people's faces and taunting them you may have a beer thrown at you.

There will be many Flames jerseys around Van city all week. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are prone to altercations, as some are.

Interest in the Canucks has been pretty low all year here. No hype and no expectations for the team at all.
Plus it's like summer here right now, which reduces a lot of people's interest in hockey.
For those going, I think you'll be in the company of a lot of Flames fans.

I ended up with more expensive tickets than I had planned for and it doesn't look like I'll be able to sell them in this market.
I'll be wearing my red in 118 for game one, and 104 for game 2.

Just bought some in section 304, row 12 for $150/ticket after fees on the TicketExchange. Ticketmaster fees are out of control..... The tickets were only $112 seller price...

Vancouver is bloody rich, it's not the economy.
Fans have given up on this iteration of the team. They don't want the Bieksa/Sedins core anymore. They lit the city ablaze they were so fed up with them.
It's going to take more than the 1st round to wake the city back up. Trading Kesler, adding Linden, they are appeasing fans, dragging out the rebuild as long as possible.
You could get tickets below face value all season here.

Still plenty of tickets. Dropped mine to below face value and nothing. I'm not getting ad views. People just don't care.
Pathetic for a Canadian city. If the Canucks ever pretend to have good fans, I will point at their stupid faces and laugh so my belly shakes like a bowl full of jelly.

It's never been a hockey city. It's far more multicultural than most Canadian cities and subsequently less fervent about Canadiana. We went to Chilliwack for a Bantam hockey tournament last year. That area serves over 100,000 people and only had 6 or 7 teams including all Rep teams. For reference, Kamloops serves about 80,000 and had 16 teams in bantam.
They just aren't a hockey or even sports mad city.

In all fairness, I remember the mid 90s flames also generating a lot of yawns from this city. The Blackhawks series in 96 had 15K fans at the dome for games 3&4. It wasn't until Calgary was so starved for playoffs in 2004 did people realize how special the playoffs are.

In Calgary you got buses with Go Flames Go signs and everyone is town is eagerly anticipating game 1.

Wow. Even for Vancouver that's surprising. Didn't think they would be that disinterested even though its a bandwagon fanbase at heart. Usually they lose a game or two before jumping off completely.

Your second sentence is true and to an extent you are right about Vancouver not being a sports mad city.
However, your assessment of minor hockey in Vancouver is incorrect, your experience in Chilliwack notwithstanding. Minor hockey is alive and well in the Lower Mainland and Greater Vancouver produces more NHL players than Calgary (quite a few more, I would say without looking it up) and has done so for some time now.

I've sold quite a few tickets on TicketExchange. They take 10% of whatever they sell for. (Now that I reread your question, that's probably not what you're asking - not sure how they divvy up the 10%).
