Brock Nelson opens the scoring, 1-0 Isles.

Holtby can't let that in, shortside from far out.

Wow, Glencross is barely playing, is he injured or just sucks?

Caps keep turning the puck over...very uncharacteristic of them this year.

Wow...Glencross with 1:44 of ice time in the 1st. Second lowest on the team.

Good trade Brad!

Islanders well on top. Like Price and Hammond, Holtby isn't having a great first game after a good regular season for him.

The Islanders lead 3-1. Halak should not be handling the puck and passing it, that lead to the Capitals Johansson tying it at 1-1. Since then, the Islanders scored twice in the second period. Bailey has two goals as the Islanders win 4-1.

Washington Capitals @washcaps
#Caps goalie Philipp Grubauer will start Game Two of #CapsIsles tonight for Washington. Braden Holtby is listed as day-to-day (illness).

Buttercup makes it 1-0 Islanders on Grubauer who's in for a sick Holtby.

This series could be over very quickly. From what I saw of these 2 in game 1, plus the first period tonight, the Islanders look by the far the superior team.

Grubauer looked really weak on the 3rd Islander goal. Without Holtby the Capitals are going to have to find another level of team defense to win.

Also, the crowd noise on NBC is great. Makes watching the game so much more appealing as a viewer.

Capitals are the Sharks of the east, just not built for playoff hockey

Yup. CBC could learn a thing or two from NBC. Up the crowd noise, turn down the Glen Healy.

Phillipp Grubauer is in net for the Capitals because Holtby has been ill for a few days.

Islanders have a 3-1 lead in the second period.

Caps achilles is goaltending? I thought Holtby was going to turn the corner. Too bad, I really liked the Caps this year.

I flipped a coin for this series and I think the coin was fixed. NYI looks scary good. Also, they have Halak who can turn into a god during the playoffs. Remember when he was the golden boy in MTL for their improbable run to the ECF?

I bet the Caps wish they didn't trade Varlamov now.

What did that first and second round pick turn into?

Oooooh man, Philip Forsberg was who they picked with that pick, and they traded that 2nd for Ribero. Youch.
