I get that the goal of the stat is to eliminate all outside factors to get to the baseline number. So regardless of luck or time of day or schedule or pregame meals at the end of the day all teams outside factors even out and anything that deviates is luck.

In the shoot out vs overtime argument of luck. What role does the coach play in using experience to get a feel for what to do. Schlemko ot winner for example, I'm not saying it wasn't luck but what role does experience play thoes 10 shootouts or 4 on 4s.

There has to be some reason for the coach to be behind the bench and deciding on the 4 on 4 lines other then it then this is what the corsi says about these 4 player. At what point does a players last shift getting slashed and coach seeing his motivation for his next shift turn an ot win from luck to skilled perception?

Statistics are only valid if you ignore them, once you start to coach to them they lose relevance. It's the classic dilemma of quantum physics, the act of observing a phenomena changes it.

LOL, wut? I think I know what you're trying to say, but the way you said it makes zero sense. Are you saying using it as a post-mortem tool is more effective than trying to coach specifically to increasing your Corsi for %? Because nobody ignores statistics in sports. In fact, they use it as a tool throughout a season for self-assessment.

Quantum physics is a very different discipline than analyzing human behavior in sports. Not sure that applies here.

What I mean is that good teams tend to posses the puck is not the same as
puck possession makes a team good, you can coach a team or a player to do a better job of keeping the puck without them becoming a better team, in fact they likely become worse as you are coaching them to be risk averse.
