Met Chris Butler at the Denver airport, and was on the same flight as him in September 2013. Chatting with him about hockey, since he was coming back for the start of training camp. Nobody else on my flight recognized him...
I was in a photo about gardening in a small town when I was like 4 or something.
I was in the background for a news broadcast for a Stampede parade once. Never saw it or remembered filming, but my friends swore it was me and the location matched where I was watching the parade.
My ex-uncle had a literal 3 second shot as a cop staring at a video screen in Jackie Chan's "New police story" and random roles in a few other Hong Kong movies.
I met Henrietta Macgregor a few times as well. Very cool lady. She was in North of 60 and Shanghai noon IIRC. http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/cal...?pid=172427855
Met Sean Chu once. I'd like to forget that one. I noted the store in the Sean Chu thread. Bizarre as hell interaction.
Saw quite a few celebs in Hong Kong and Macau, never chatted with them though.
Several years back, I spotted Daryl Sutter beside me at a red light in his Ford Explorer. I waved at him, he gave me the thumbs up. Seriously.. one of coolest days of my life.
Lived next door to Sean Connery and Terrance stamp in the 60's but was a baby so do not remember it, David Hockney beat the #### out of his boyfriend at a party my dad held when I was 5 or 6 again way back in the 60's.
Used to drink with Duran Duran's bodyguard at the height of their fame, but they were pricks so he hated them and we both generally tried to ignore them. Had a passing acquaintance with Boy George when he was a bouncer at a club I used to hang at, he is a very good boxer, watched him utterly destroy a couple of drunks who called him a poof one night. Met lots of 80's music figures in London in those days, got my arse groped by the lead singer of Soft Cell one night at the same club Boy George bounced.
London in the early eighties was a good place to grow up in.
I've met a good bunch of "celebrities", but mostly Finns so I'm not even sure they'd count. Still, I'm trying to think of some stories that might be considered cool...
Not someone you'd know, but I once picked up our minister of traffic from the parliament house, and he asked my opinion on roundabouts, which were at the time becoming more popular and so a sort of a topic. That's mostly an example of story, I've got a few of similar experiences. My first ex-wife knows ex-president of Finland Tarja Halonen. I've talked with then president of Finland about cats. (We were both cat owners.)
Oh, Teemu Selänne is a cousin (second cousin?) of a now-distant friend. They're not close, but I've met Selänne.
Ville Valo (singer-songwriter of the band HIM) used to frequent a metal bar I occasionally went to in Helsinki. IIRC I've given him money for beer. (Obviously he wasn't rich and famous then.)
I drove Raimo Summanen (head coach of Team Finland back when Finland made the final in the 2004 World Cup) home from the airport one night. We chatted this and that about hockey for about the half hour the drive took.
The Rasmus (band) isn't popular in North America I think, but they're sizable generally speaking. (Some millions of albums of sold.) I've met their guitar player at a party.
I've also met both terrorists (as in someone who actually has committed politically motivated violence) and "terrorists" (as in people categorized as terrorists for purely political reasons). Nobody famous, but people generally find that interesting. (It's not actually that rare to if you're into global politics.)
Personally I think one of the most interesting people I've met is one of the guys who took part in this. (He lives peacefully in Finland now.)
Well most of you know my story, reality TV, since then I've become friends with a lot of the celebrities in Iceland, which is neat. Especially the hottest woman in Iceland which I have a massive crush on.
While playing with the high school Jazz band at the national finals a buddy and I snuck into the directors party and got to meet Count Basie....that's going to date myself.

I was in a flyer for The Bay here in Calgary modeling some baby clothes when I was one, I'm crying in all my pictures. Really need to get that scanned.
A couple of weeks ago Ted Danson was on my flight from Calgary to LAX. I said hi to him (we supply material for Fargo), he said they were having a great time filming the new season.
Back in 2005 my girlfriend at the time ran into Dan Akroyd outside Mint. He invited her out for dinner the following night. She went, he propositioned her, she turned him down, he went out to Mint again. Where funny enough some friends and I were that night too. I ran into him on the stairway and asked him how his dinner was with my girlfriend, he said "Oh you must be Bigtime. I left a little gift for you with Jane (not her name).". Saw her the next day and I had a nice signed bottle of Patron from him. Still have that.
Oh yeah, forgot one. Must have been around '95 they were filming a modern day version of Noah for Disney with Tony Danza. Used one of our stores for a scene where he was going to buy the wood for the Ark, got to see the whole thing get set up and all the time it took for what was like a 30 second scene. Met Tony afterwards, he was really friendly but I was quite surprised with how short he was.
My Grandpa grew up with Gordie Howe and one day he was over for supper at their house. I was young, 4 or 5, so it would have been around 87. My Grandpa introduced him as Mr. Hockey, the greatest hockey player to ever live.. to which I replied, "Nuh uh, Lanny McDonald is the greatest hockey player of all time!!!"
I remember my Grandpa got this look of death on his face but Gordie just laughed, shook my hand and said something like "Oh Really, then where's his Cup?"
Soon Gordie... Soon..
Then again in the 90's Lanny was in town for some type of hockey conference here, Gordie was also there and invited my Grandpa. My Grandpa took a picture of me in my Flames jersey with him and Gordie flagged down Lanny to get him to sign it for me. Pretty sure I remember my Grandpa saying they had a good laugh over the story as well. Still have the picture, I think I have posted it on here before. Unfortunately the marker is starting to fade, not sure what to do about that.
Spoiler!

I went to theatre school, so a bunch of people I know rather well have ended up... somewhat famous? It's weird because they aren't actually famous, but I see people I know in ads and commercials all the time, like this one:
Geoff Gustafson was a good friend at school, he's been in a bunch of other commercials too and apparently was in The Interview and Hot Tub Time Machine, neither of which I've seen. :
The others who have gained the most fame are probably Erin Karpluk, who was the lead in Being Erica on CBC; and Thomas Middleditch who was Richard on Silicon Valley and had small roles in Wolf of Wall Street and The Campaign.
One of my ex girlfriends very nearly played a prostitute in The Assassination of Jesse James, she's had some success in Calgary theatre and was on the radio for a while.
One of my friends has won a couple of Emmys for production and another buddy edits together the montages of films for the Oscars.
hockey folks like monahan, mike keenan, and some leafs....
I met Mikhail Gorbachev when i was a kid when he visited calgary back in the late 80s (or early 90s can't remember) was on the cover of the herald for it.
surprised no one's mentioned this celebrity yet, but i am fortunate enough to see Santa Claus almost annually!
One of the Hart brothers was my substitute teacher in junior high. I think it was Keith Hart. It was cool because like two weeks after I saw him on WWE In Your House. Also when I was a kid I met Junk Yard Dog and Jack The Snake.
Went to one of Jay Leno's last shows in 2009. We weren't selected for the meet and great after the show, so my wife, then 8 months preggo, caught his attention as we were walking out and said "Jay...baby needs a picture!" He called us up, shook hands, took photos, and chatted with us for a good 5 minutes. He's always been on my top 5 list of people to meet, so that was awesome.
My wife met Serj Tankian (I was super jealous as he's also in my top 5 to meet)
We're good friends with Don Burnstick, who is probably the best known native comedian in Canada. Very awesome guy.
Had backstage passes to 50 Cent about 12 years ago. Met him, Lloyd Banks, and all his crew. Back then, that was a big deal for me.
Met Angus and Malcolm Young at our hotel in Winnipeg. They were clearly excited for the photo op...

It was Keith Hart, I also had him as a sub in grade 9 (yrs ago).
I sat next to Pavel Bure on a flight from Winnipeg to Calgary in the fall of '93. All the Canucks were on the flight, Gino had to duck to walk down the plane.
I spiked a vollyball into the face of Doug Gilmour at a BBQ, he was pissed.
I played rugby with one of the greatest props of all time, The Fun Bus:

Went bowling with Justin Timberlake,(asked him to grab me a pin at the end of the night and he ran down the lane and slid into all of them, and brought me one back); got told to "get the hell off the fairway" from Arnold Palmer at the JC Penny Classic many years ago!
