Apparently Hiller set an NHL record in longest team shut out in a relief attempt.

However, there is a chance that this situation gives the Flames an extra chance on the O'Connor front.
The expectation was that, due to making the frozen four, his window of getting into an NHL game this year was all but closed.
But if BU loses the semi-final on the 9th, Calgary could offer him a chance to dress in the Wpg game (as backup obviously).
The advantage that Edmonton and Buffalo had was the chance (depending on when his season ends) to get an NHL game in.
Now, the Flames can make him the same offer. And seriously, who wouldn't choose the Flames over those two?
Also, the same opportunity could be available to Gillies if Providence loses their semi-final game.
So as all Flames fans know and understand, this guarantees that BU and Providence will advance to the final.

^^ Just to throw some speculation out there -- as I posted in the NCAA prospects thread, the Flames charter jet (the same one used to fly Gaudreau and Arnold in last year) appears to be in Boston (presumably for the Frozen Four): http://flightaware.com/live/flight/CNK821
This happened before the Ramo injury so the intent likely wasn't to rush anyone into an NHL game but I suppose that option exists now.
Having said that, I hope Providence wins it all this year; my best guess is that Gillies signs shortly thereafter...

Is it possible that Gillies is on the Flames 80 man reserve list? If so would he be eligible for the playoffs?

Any word in flames land about call-ups? You've gotta think they've pulled the trigger on something, Ramo will not be ready to play on Tuesday...

Pity she's bound to lose her job over that. Husband could have made it less specific... oops.

Looked like a hamstring pull to me. Depending on grade could be anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks I would have thought.

Neither goalie gets the shutout (its considered a shared shutout), but whoever was in when the GWG was scored gets credit for the win.

On it's way back to Calgary as we speak - so it wasn't there to pick up Gillies.

No i wouldn't think so...Mr Gillies has a rather important evening planned on Thursday.....and possibly Saturday as well.
He will be free to join the Flames after one of those days.

The photo around the Twitterverse tipped off the world Jordan Sigalet was that close to playing another NHL game.
With Karri Ramo injured in the opening minute of Saturday’s clash with the Edmonton Oilers and a university goalie on his way to serve as emergency backup, Sigalet was dressed for nearly half of the game, just in case.
A photo of a stone-faced Sigalet, sitting on a chair in full gear, was put out for all to see.
“I was getting my game face on. And I haven’t put on the gear in a while. I’m out of shape,” the Flames goalie coach said with a laugh. “It was brand new pants, kinda stiff, and I could hard even bend over.”
Ever since the Florida Panthers had both of their netminders injured in the same game in early March, the Flames have an emergency goalie at the Saddledome for every home game, and Sigalet has travelled with his gear in case they faced such a situation on the road.
Sigalet, 34, retired in 2009 and has one NHL game to his name — a 43-second outing in the 2005-06 season for the Boston Bruins.
So close to NHL appearance No. 2.
“It’s exciting. I was hoping to get on the bench, get some camera time, but that never happened,” Sigalet said. “You don’t want it to happen, but we’ve been prepared for it by having the gear. You don’t expect a guy to go down that early, but as soon as he went down, I went down, got dressed. Once we tracked down the other kid and he came in, it was his job. He’s been on the ice more than I have.
“I was joking that I have the NHL record of 43 seconds — it’s the shortest NHL career by a goalie — so I said if I go in, I’m only going in for 42 seconds and not beating my record.”

^ Maybe my english sux... but is that article saying Sigalet is our emergency at every single home game?
Or is our emergency Brent Krahn, and we just gave him season tickets?
Of the UofC Dinos?
Maybe why Kelly Hrudy is our radio guy just in case?

The way I read it, it's not Sigalet at home.

That is my interpretation as well. Sigalet on the road, someone else (Krahn?) at home
