I thought the Sabres were obviously oiling from day 1 of the season. Trading their goalies was just icing on the oily cake.
Phoenix seems like an obvious oil job as well.
The sad thing is, the Oilers aren't even trying to oil any more. It's just who they are now.

Buffalo was planned, Arizona and TO was reactionary, and Oilers well..I seriously think they never tried to tank. They are just poorly built team from years of focus on the wrong areas due to poor management.
I think their continued badness makes people think the only logical way was intentional, but I think they have never tried to be this bad. They are just truly the most incompetently run organization in all of pro sports.

^^ I challenge your definition of "Oiling".
The Oilers seriously do not tank. They want to be good. They just keep stumbling blindly into new and interesting ways to be terrible.

I voted Buffalo, but maybe the Leafs are doing the best job of disguising it - decisions like firing the better coach; maybe management is encouraging the media circus to destroy player morale; maybe I just hate the Leafs/Leaves

Actually never said that but as usual your talking and don't know what your talking about, don't ever change.
I'll clarify once since either you have bad or selective memory. You said Buffalo was tanking because they sold off assets at the deadline (UFAs) and didn't do much to improve their team. I argued that the Flames did the same thing by selling off assets at the deadline (Iggy, JBO, Stempniak) and that one could argue that Moulson Gorges, Meszarjos, and Gionta were equally if not better aquistitions than Hiller, Engelland, Raymond, and Bollig.
So based on YOUR criteria of tanking I said well then you'd have to consider the Flames are tanking as well. And to further clarify since you couldn't understand it then and probably still can't understand it now, I don't think either team is or was tanking.

Enroth and Neuvirth are marginal backup goalies, at best. They have been equally horrible on their new teams as well. The Sabres are and will get far superior goaltending from Lindback and Johnson, now and in the future. Excellent hockey deal.
The Sabres may be winning the tank derby, but it has absolutely zero to do with goalie trades.

Hmm....tough call. Buffalo went into the season with a full on rebuild in place. As the season went on they did sell assets, and certainly made sure that they made their goaltending worse, and traded good players to get a guy they knew wouldn't help them this season. I mean not being able to score 2 goals a game for 2 straight seasons is epically laughable.
Arizona though nearly made the playoffs last year. But since the calendar turned over to 2015, the marching orders do seem to have been get worse than Edmonton by any means necessary. That itself is pretty epic. I mean they gave away Dubnyk who had a winning record and now looks like Ken Dryden.
Both teams definitely deserve to lose the lottery this year. They both tried to lose.

I think Arizona & Buffalo actions at the trade deadline have organizationally reflected tanking. Selling off of assets, and I don't blame them, have set themselves up for a better future. The Oilers, .... well .... they're just being themselves, bad.

Enroth with Stars since trade: 0.873 SV%, 3.35 GAA
Neuvirth with Isles since trade: 0.882 Sv%, 2.91 GAA
Lindback with Sabres since trade: 0.930 SV%, 2.49 GAA
So, I guess it was a good, not-tank move after all. Imagine that.

I still have to go with Arizona. Trading your best goalie and half of your top 4 dmen sends a strong message. I bet they stitched a McDavid name bar on a jersey the day after trade deadline.

2 shoot out wins in their last 21 games is awful. Arizona is 1 point back of Edmonton and pretty much have no chance to catch them. Too bad the Flames don't have 4 games left against them.

My thoughts exactly when I opened this thread. Sure, Buffalo has done a lot of little things that all add up to a great tank job... but when the Coyotes made this deal.. it was a game breaker. Well done Yotes!

So I'm a bit confused here.
Is it you don't think the Sabres are tanking?... or is it that you're just tired of people talking about how the Sabres are tanking?

Buffalo fans cheered throughout the game for the Coyotes, and Mike Weber gave a pretty emotional interview afterwards:
