He's probably going to be sitting in the pressbox the next 15 games.
So instead of bringing someone up from the A to sit in the pressbox, the boys in the A will continue playing, and the boys in the N will continue playing, and Murray will be ecstatic to sit in a pressbox and get paid.
Should someone get injured, he could fill in until someone from Adirondack can catch a flight to CGY.

maybe to leave farmhands on the farm so our AHL team can make the playoffs too?
The priority flows down hill. If we have a player in the A that can slot in then slot him in. If that has an adverse affect on Gf, but a positive affect on the big team, so be it. An organization is judged by how it's NHL team does, and that should be the focus, especially at this time of year.

I would rather, I guy like Wotherspoon actually get a shot. I ain't sold that Murray is an upgrade, but could understand if he was able to provide cover for the playoffs. If we call up a farmhand, say wotherspoon, he can get some ice. If we get hit with injuries on D in the playoffs, we are gonna have to call on players with limited NHL time.

I would agree, but as I mention, Wotherspoon isn't in the building right now, he might not be able to make it last minute. And I'd rather have him playing games in the AHL until we know he would be getting actual ice time in the NHL, having him sit in our press box waiting for his chance would be no good.
Roger Millions @RogMillions26m26 minutes agoCalgary, Alberta #Flames have lost Ryan Culkin in system due to injury. Murray could be insurance for Adirondack of AHL.

Exactly. They are just trying him out anyways. Douglas Murray is a big body defenseman. He might not be as fast as the other D we have but Flames need someone to come in when an injury occurs. So who do we have than can play right away just in case? Wotherspoon is still a rookie and I am not saying he can't handle the job, then we have Potter and pretty much it. Murray been in a playoff push before so that is not a bad insurance policy.
I don't mind this move at all. Like I said he is still have to earn the job and he was not signed yet. If he doesn't work out then it's fine.
As far as I can tell Potter is still with the team. Probably better having him playing down in the AHL with Murray in the pressbox. Currently Addy is sitting in 10th and out of the playoffs (albeit 2pts), I think they could use some help.

Flames didn't assign Potter to Adirondack before the trade deadline, he can't be sent down.
