He always said the right things. Perry much every quote was "yeah I was disappointed but I get it I need to work harder, yada, yada, yada.". It was the media speculation that he was sulking, but not a single pouty quote that I remember

You have a very selective memory if that's the case. His comments to the media in the last year were absolutely vastly improved, but when he first got sent down after his early success, his comments were not good. Nothing outlandish, but very easy to see he wasn't happy and pointing externally for his failures.

Comments after the rookie tournament the first time when he didn't produce about how it's tough to produce playing with the line mates he had, etc....

Regardless of what quotes people have armed with, not hard to see over the past few years that Sven didn't think he was getting a fair shake (no longer willing to debate if that's true or not, we all know where all of on here stand in that regards, we've talked it enough ) and his final act of suggesting he wouldn't sign next season pretty much cements that fact, so we can put to rest whether Sven was sulking or not to bed. If he thought he was getting a fair chance, he'd have been willing to resign as an RFA like 95% of other people in his situation do, the fact he wouldn't have really trumps any ability to provide quotes on it or not, it proved out to be true regardless.

So he didn't "ask" for a trade directly. Just put it out there that he felt his future wasn't in CGY. Whatever, he's gone. Everyone in the situation was good about the whole thing. Moving on...

Look back to what he said after being cut his second training camp.

I totally agree with this. Personally I was letting this Sven stuff go and moving on then this thread kind of makes it feel negative. Wish they would either lock or put in it the other thread. I am happy for Sven wishing him all the best and even happier for the Flames going forward.

I know it makes everyone feel better to try and paint Sven as some kind of spoiled entitled brat, but there is absolutely no evidence of this.
The team formed an opinion about him and decided he wasn't in their plans, that's it.
You can try and pretend that his play didn't "earn" him a spot, but the truth is when he played with top players he performed more than satisfactorily for someone of his age. When he played on the 4th line with Bollig he struggled.
He's gone now so it doesn't matter much, but we don't ned to attack his character every single day.

He didn't ask for a trade, he asked for playing time and treliving knew it was best not to until he plays with more compete level. So he gave him to a team that can try and revive him.

Make like a princess in a bad Disney musical and let it go already.

Ya, I don't hate the guy. Although I hope he never becomes a NHL player, I wish him all the success in the AHL.

It was well in his right to push for a trade instead of doing what was asked of him. Frankly he may not of been capable of it. In which case if he wanted to get on a team that was weaker and therefore more desperate for NHL bodies good for him. I think that says enough about his skill set and depth of the team without getting into speculation on his personality.

Treliving himself said that this type of situation is fairly common. to me that means don't bother with the spurned lover act. if we had to create a pile-on thread for every player that wasn't happy about their role and/or playing time, I'm pretty sure the forum would crash.

I never painted him as a spoiled brat. I paint him as a whiny baby. And their is plenty of evidence of him being emotionally fragile. He is with the proper team.

Exactly.

Don't hate on the kid, he's just trying to make it into the NHL and although I disagree with his methods (and that of his agent), it's not worth holding a grudge over. I still think he's got tons of potential, but I think he's too much of emotional rollercoaster to reach it.

If he can figure out his mental game, he'll be a player. As time goes on that has looked less and less likely though- to the point that he became expendable to the Flames. Now all that's left to hope for is a good player from that (hopefully 44th) 2nd round pick.

I personally don't paint him any better or worse after this situation. If he wanted out, sure. If he didn't, nothing changes.

It does seem a little pointless to figure out what actually happened in terms of his requests though. Guy is gone. Leave it at that. This isn't corporate espionage or anything like that. Dude hopped over the mountains for a fresh start like some guys walk across the street in Calgary and start with a new company. I wish him the best, but never more good wishes than enough so as not to hurt our team.

There is no "truth is" to your comment. You post is entirely opinion, which is fine, but there is no "facts" in what you say.

Whether it's because of organizational bias or Sven himself, Sven is not playing in the NHL right now because he was beat out by the likes of Josh Jooris for a spot on this team. Debate away if you think Jooris, Gaudreau, Colborne actually outplayed Sven, but don' pretend he slam dunk anything.

Also, interesting in your passionate defense of Sven that you use the word "satisfactory" when describing his performance. That might just say it all..............
