I expect he racks up 6-8 points through the Toronto, Columbus and Edmonton games alone.

I don't think he has to be ahead in points. I think it just has to be close enough (say within 3 either way)

How are Hoffman and Klingberg more impressive? They have all been impressive.

Excatly. He has one big advantage over both FF and Ekblad - media exposure. And not just this year, but the last two as well.

Do you mean by this that all three of Hoffman, Klingberg, and Ekblad are more impressive than Johnny Gaudreau? How do you figure? I think a strong argument could be made to show that he is the most impressive of the lot.

I also think that Gaudreau gets an edge in Calder voting from his notoriety. From the entire pool of eligible candidates, I am quite certain that no player is as readily recognised, nor followed as closely or widely. This bodes well for him.

That's also why Forsberg and Ekblad have an edge over the others like Klingberg and Hoffman. The talk all year has been about them and Johnny. And of those, Johnny is the most compelling story.

I see however, that Johnny has taken himself out of the Lady Byng running. He's got 12 pm now, 4 more than Monahan.

Maybe Monahan is in contention for the Lady Byng?

Hell, I think Johnny's only had one penalty all season.

Maybe. I don't care about it at all, so I haven't looked at anything about it. Datsyuk might get it I suppose.

He's at 5 penalties and 12 minutes (one was a double minor). He got a tripping call just last game.

Johnny had that streak of a couple games where he was an absolute goon. Just bloody reckless out there 12 PIMs my word.

He got robbed on that one - did the time for Wideman's crime

Would his bonuses kick in at 20 Goals and 35 assists? I think that's the usual threshold?

I'm surprised he's just five points behind Forsberg right now. I say they end the season tied. Nothing is easy for any Flames player.

I saw that too and thought that we caught a break. Would you rather have Wideman on a PK or little teeny weeny Johnny?

Although I bet Johnny would score a few shorties if he played PK

I'm actually surprised he has so few trips. He is a stick checker by necessity and always has his stick in the offensive scrums digging away.

These are the minimum thresholds for Performance Bonuses on ELCs for forwards:
(i) Ice time (aggregate and/or per Game). Player must be among top six (6) forwards on the Club (minimum 42 Regular Season Games played by Player and comparison group). (Note: an Entry Level SPC may contain bonuses for both aggregate and per Game ice time; however, the maximum aggregate amount the Player may receive on account of the ice time category is $212,500.)

(ii) Goals: 20 Goal Minimum

(iii) Assists: 35 Assist Minimum

(iv) Points: 60 Point Minimum

(v) Points Per Game: .73 Points Per Game Minimum (minimum 42 Regular Season Games played)

(vi) Plus-Minus Rating: Among top three (3) forwards on the Club (minimum 42 Regular Season Games played by Player and comparison group).

(vii) End-of-Season NHL All-Rookie Team

(viii) NHL All-Star Game (selected to play or plays)

(ix) NHL All-Star Game MVP

He has already qualified for the All Star Game selection bonus. He is on pace for the ice time bonus (either aggregate or per game). His points-per-game is currently 0.74, so he just needs to maintain that. I'd say he's also a shoo-in for the All-Rookie Team selection.

He is 4 goals, 3 assists, and 12 points away from reaching those minimums. His +/- is only one behind Hudler for third highest on the team (but Hudler will be hard to pass since they share so much ice time).

The things to keep in mind are that he can only receive a maximum of 4 of those bonuses, so even if he achieves them all, the maximum he can collect is $850,000. So, he'll likely max them out even if he doesn't hit the goal and point thresholds (not that I think he won't).

Good for him. $850k in the bank for bonuses. I am actually happy for him.

Cool, thanks getbak. Monahan has a shot at 4 this year too. (Ice time and goals are locks, maybe points and pp game too)

4 goals, 3 assists and 12 points.

Maybe I'm just tired from a long day of work, but how does that math work?

Edit - nvm yup, I'm tired. I see the 60 points doesn't equal the goal and assist minimums.
