Loubo on Fan 960 saying Schlemko may prove to be a key piece of the Flames playoff aspirations. Will be interesting to see how he fares in his debut tonite. His last NHL game was January 31st.

Hoping for a great effort.
Is there some way to keep Raymond off the PP? I do not see whatever it is Hartley sees.

What Hartley sees is Raymond's high accuracy shot when someone else sets him up from the opposite side. That's really the extent of it and has been all season. Just like Bollig is our designated goon.

Raymond has the fifth-most minutes of PP ice time among forwards on the entire team this season (4th among current Flames since Glencross was traded).
Hudler, Monahan, and Gaudreau are the top three, they're also the top three in PP points among forwards. Raymond has one PP point (an assist) all season. He is tied in PP points with Lance Bouma, who has played a grand total of 3 minutes and 2 seconds of PP time this season.
I don't mind Hartley shaking up the main lines, but Gaudreau should definitely be out there with Monahan and Hudler on the first PP unit.

Why not shake things up? Our pp has been out right terrible regardless of the top three pp point production.

I agree. Schlemko is a good defenseman and is another added lefty that we needed. He's a great skater too.

Hoping Schlemko can prove to be like Russell. A former Med Hat tiger dman in his mid/late 20's on waivers that turns into a solid contributer. I know we traded for Russ but he did clear waivers prior to that

Rumour was that the Canucks were interested in grabbing Schlemko if the Flames hadn't grabbed him first. Willy Desjardin was his coach in the Hat.

I am hoping for the same thing. Schlemko was on a stacked AZ defense, his and Russell's story are almost alike. Hoping for another steal when given the opportunity. I think I remember him playing RD, not sure. Would be great to see him and Russell paired and to have Brodie/Wideman together in later games.

I'm quite sure you're smoking something. Either that, or terrible trolling. There are so many things wrong with this statement that I don't even know where to begin.

I think the comparisons to Russell are wishful thinking. Schlemko is the kind of player that you will watch for 10 games without really noticing. Russell has a lot more raw talent (he might actually be the best Dman I have seen at the world juniors) and his being on waivers likely had more to do with contract status than his abilities.
I am not so much "excited" for Schlemko rather than "happy we have him because he isn't going to screw up back there"

That is the kind of player they need - you aren't going to replace Giordano, even with a rounded prospect like Wotherspoon. But at the very least, a solid, dependable pro who can log minutes will help immensely. Might be the difference between Brodie, Russel and Wideman playing 28-30 minutes vs 23-26 minutes

LOL...Yeah, I stay off CP and Twitter and have Google Now set to not tell me the scores of games. Takes a bit of a work around, but I love skipping the commercials and just watching the pure game.

The best #Flames misery in Boston story was 9-0 loss on Jan 5, 2012. TJ Brodie played a game-high 24:57 and was EVEN. ( Chris Butler was -7).

They have to avoid taking a 10 or 15 minute break during the game, like they seem to have gotten in the habit of doing lately.
