Exactly. Fair market for Russell would likely be what Petry got give or take a bit. I wouldn't deal him for that little, it would take 2X that and probably more, a ridiculous sum. If a team wants to Reto Berra us for Russell, then you'd have to look at it even though you might not have set out to do that.

If we trade Russell, I think that says a message that we are in sell mode and that the GM doesn't have much faith in this group as it is now. It would definetly have to be an overpayment for me to be happy with the trade.

If we trade Russell for anything except for a young NHL dman who can play top 4 minutes, we may as well sell the farm. Treliving has said that he's not going to so this, if anything he wants to add to help the group make the playoffs.

Trades may depend a little on how soon Giordano will be back. If it's soon, we retain our players and maybe buy. If he's out for the season, maybe we sell.

Good, makes no sense to decimate our group IMO. Show this team that you want to win and you care about the future. I like this path and by no means is our season over.
