FWIW Treliving said he thinks this is a deep draft and you should be able to get good players into the 60s a few days ago.

The answer is ALWAYS yes.....just a matter of terms (or returns in this case).

Keep the picks and continue to move veterans where possible. Need room for more of the AHL Flames next season and need the picks to keep the cupboard full.

Nope.. Unless you get OEL for a 2nd, 3rd and a prospect or two.. Shore and Baertschi for example

What's the need to possess ALL of those picks? We're further along in the rebuild process than we thought. Flip them for a young roster player. We need guys that'll be ready sooner than any 2015 draftees outside the first round would be.
Pick collecting is useless unless your rebuild is still in the crawl stages or just isn't working like Edmonton.

Yeah for sure, those new picks are found money and won't hurt the draft process. Whether the Flames move their own in the 2nd and third rounds or both 2nds to get a good upgrade on D and walk into the draft with a first and 2 third round pick I'd be okay with it.
Any which way they choose to upgrade a position with the extra picks, I'm good with it.

We're still tied with LA for 3rd in the division with 70 points. Edmonton fans would sacrifice goats to be where we are right now.
No, you don't chuck the season.

You'd be doing backflips if a player anything close to OEL comes out of your first 5 picks in this draft. OEL >> any 1st outside of the top 5.

Like anything else it just depends on the value. If the value is there than absolutely. Treliving owes it to the players to try and help them out. They know they weren't expected to be here right now, but they still want the reassurance from management that they believe.

Saying no definitively is a really stubborn and short sighted answer.
I'd keep the picks... unless one or two of them could be packaged as part of a deal bringing in a young defenseman who would become part of our long term plans.
There are situations where it might make sense to move a pick.

Probably not. Unless it is for a piece that will be around for a while and will make the team better. The team is a couple years away from being a true contender and if they have a glut of talented prospects that will bring in a legitimate star then that is a move that will make a lot more sense than giving up those prospects now for a rental.

Keep the picks. If there is a opportunity to move the 1st up a few spots on draft day use the 2nd and/or 3rd.

There's no real need. The difference between 25 and 45 is minor this go around.

Be open to it but it would have to be a good return. If we got a player like OEL for picks, we would move the franchise forward a lot.

Nope. We've got prospects that can compete for the open spot.

I think you keep 'em. This way you have a lot of flexibility to move up in the draft if there's someone you like. Hell, that late third rounder could turn into another second with the right wheeling and dealing.

After seeing what the Yotes got for Yandle the OEL dream needs to die. Monahan, Bennett, Gaudreau would have to be involved at minimum and the flames won't do that

I might for an NHL defenseman in their early 20s.
I don't know why the Coyotes would trade Ekman-Larsson. Trading a guy like OEL sets back their rebuild. Frankly, I would give up our 1st for a dman like that. It would be like if Calgary traded Brodie, except even worse.
