Vermette is a centre who is one of the stronger ones in the dot and can play all three positions and can skate like the best in the game... I'm not saying he is a stud but he is extremely valuable especially since he is in his prime.
CHI has been looking for a 2nd line center for ages. This isn't a loss for CHI. Kane being out muddies the water on that debate, I will admit, but either way it is better to bet on a player who can play top 6 (2nd line), while in their prime, while you have a chance to compete. If they are a center with versatility, even better. Yes a 1st looks bad ,this year especially, but in all reality, outside the top 10, the draft is a guessing game.
With the cap issues this team will face next year it's best to go for a Cup while they can, even if Kane is on the sidelines for 2 or so rounds..
