I would think its nothing more than an incentive to sell tickets that they struggle to sell. A lot less demand for those seats vs the ones you likely have.

Ya it's because PL sucks man and the only way they can sell them is by offering free food.

Yup. It works out better for them if they sell the PL seats at full price and include some free food (that costs virtually nothing for the raw ingredients), rather than dropping the price of the seats and hoping they can make up the revenue by selling the food.

Then downgrade your tickets and get free food. Who's stopping you? You pay for a better seat and view. If you'd prefer to pay less for a worse seat, a worse view and some really ####ty food, why don't you simply do so?

I agree with this. My thoughts as well. I'm sure that if you offered up a chance to trade seats in rows 1 to 3 in PL (or even lower) for something in PL rows 4 and up, you will find many takers who are willing to do the exchange despite the lack of food vouchers.
On the other hand, why do the Club seats get seat side waiter services while the rest of us have to go to the concourse? (I'm obviously kidding...)

I don't get the issue with PL, we are PL, we get free food and I have a better view than when I went to a game and sat in the 100 level last year. To each their own, I'm more than happy to be up there and not spending thousands upon thousands to have our season tickets.

EDIT: Flames responded that last year ours was 41 games (bought ours very close to the start of the season), this year it's 45 with the preseason games too. Makes sense - and definitely appreciated the prompt reply from them. No change in price actually for Orange 205 compared to last year for 45 games.

I'm in Orange in sec 203 and my seats went up 3%.

I was always under the assumption that the free food was only for first year PL seat holders? I just renewed my PL seats, will I in fact get the vouchers again?
edit.

Are you above rows 1-3?
I have PL season tickets but I don't get food vouchers (PL row 2-3).

There is a pretty massive difference between PL Rows 3 and 4. First 3 rows are in high demand=no free food

Yep, I'd gladly trade the free food for seats in rows 1-3.

Sucks that after 10 years I am on the bubble on renewing, right when the team seems to be taking off. Currently not working, and things aren't looking too promising for my friend that I split the tickets with either. It is looking like I'll be back at work soon, but if this is an extended downturn there is part of me that wants to be in hardcore savings mode. Or maybe I'll look into downgrading my seats to something cheaper. Took me years to relocate to where I am now, would be a shame to give them up.

I had no problems selling 2/3 of my season tickets (in Red) this current year, most of them at cost or slightly above. With the buzz and excitement surrounding the Flames lately, I wouldnt see much of an issue selling 100% of your season tickets next year if the economy wasn't to pick back up. Also, in a year or 2 I could see the hothouse wait list getting back up in numbers similar to several years ago, so it may be many years to get the seats you have back if you were to not renew.

This season, there were people selling food vouchers for all the games for less than $100. I think some were available on the ticket exchange here on CP. So if you're in the first three rows of the PL, just wait for someone to dump the vouchers at the start of next season for a quick buck.

I agree with FFFlife, you should have no problems selling tickets next season, especially if the Flames make the playoffs. You might even find someone who is willing to take the entire season off of you, and keep the tickets in your name.

Ditto. It wasn't all that long ago that when someone posted tickets on my work's classifieds, they were spoken for within a few minutes at face value.
Throw in an improving team and a new arena (there, I said it), it will be a pretty hot ticket.

There is also food and beverage service to your seats during Flames games, but it's not free. I believe for some seats, you also get free Calgary Hitmen seasons tickets to the same seats.

Club fees are over $1000 per seat, however you don't get parking, that is a waiting list still. The rest is pretty accurate, first row second level doesn't get beverage service and you don't get EVERY event but u do get a lot of them before any presales.

Perhaps that was because it was a corporate account. I ran it and those were the perks we had. Parking was included and access to all events prior to public sale.

The parking is separate from the club fees, just another purchase lumped in. Mine is a corporate account too just the parking waiting list is a slow wait. There is usually one or two events a year they don't offer your seats

They do for some club seats (lower bowl), but if you're in the first few rows of 200, you get the privilege of paying for club seats without any service / cushy seats.
