Damn, I wish he knew how much he meant to Calgary Flames fans.
Every player on that 2004 Cup Run team is special and played an important role in Flames History.
I am pretty sure the Calgary Flames will honor him in some way.

I remember Playfair talking about his first meeting with Montador in Saint John.

He said Montador came in, introduced himself then started listing off the reasons why he was going to be Playfair's best defenceman.

so very sad. RIP

James Mirtle @mirtle
Steve Montador's death believed to be a suicide. He suffered from concussions and depression. Difficult financial situation too I'd heard.

Wow that is a kick to the gut.
His goal is my favorite one from that run- not that it matters much.
Ugh. Devastating.

Had a couple of pretty good seasons for the Sabres later on in his career too. Very sad news, he seemed like a good guy.

Wow, that is depressing news, particularly if it does prove to be a suicide.

Like many here he'll always be remembered for being one half of The Doors, a large part of that run, but of course that is such a small part of who he was.

Very sad. RIP Steve.
