Was going to say exactly this. People tend to like money, and Wotherspoon has certainly earned a bonus. There's no telling if there's going to be a better chance to give it to him.

I think at this point in his career these call ups are a nice motivator even if Wotherspoon doesn't get to play.

He's been better since day 1. Smid's only redeeming qualities are putting tender parts of his body in front of shots and kind of clearing the net. Can't skate, can't shoot, can't break the puck out and loses board battles all the time. Diaz should be there

I prefer Smid over Diaz due to the heart factor.. Also Smid is getting a bad rap but don't think he's this bad once he gets his game going. He's kind of set up to fail with Engelland as well.

My thoughts on Diaz remains unchanged since the first game he suited up for the Flames.
He has provided no value to the team and should be in the AHL.

Then why did Engelland get better once Smid was gone?

Smid is a good defenseman when paired with a guy like Wideman. When you pair him with Engelland, he's a disaster.

He's hard for me to hate because I really like him as a person.

Smid and Diaz are both bad.
