The whole point of this season from the get-go was to build competition in the ranks and see who's left standing when the smoke clears. If he hasn't earned a place through games or practices, why not give a chance to someone who is (on the farm). The same thing happened to Seto and nobody had a problem with it.
|
I don't think Raymond has been that terrible. He can be better, but leaving him in the pressbox all season won't help either. He's a winger......another winger just got hurt. Makes sense he gets another shot. Unless he's moping around in practice and looks like garbage I think we see him tomorrow. I hope we do.

So calling him GlenX is more of a Shelbyville idea? That ought to make people stop that..

GlenX was his Oiylahz name. He shed his Oiler name when he shed the Oilerstank.

Yeah, well I didn't say all season. This is assuming that Glencross is out short term (a few games). Someone getting hurt opens a spot for a call-up, we don't HAVE to use someone already on the roster. Maybe seeing a kid take his place for a few games will light a fire under Raymond. Or not, and he is over-taken by a young guy. Either way the Flames win, and I couldn't really care less about Raymond's hurt feelings. He wouldn't be in the press-box if Hartley felt he was trying his darndest. It's not about points as much as effort, hence why guys like Bollig and Byron play and Raymond doesn't. Effort is not a mistake, it's a choice.

yup, for a forum so filled with Oiler mocking, people are co-opting a nickname they made for him. A dumb one at that.

How could it be a slap in the face? Raymond has earned his place in the press box and maybe the only thing that will wake him up is a good slap on the face.

I personally hope that Curtis is ok and able to join the team on the road trip still.

I don't think they call up anyone, we have Raymond and Granlund who can play. Granlund can probably start playing on the wing if they decide to go with him instead of Raymond.
If we didn't have Ortio up, maybe they call up another forward, but I doubt it.

What does Baertschi provide that Raymond is not supposed to?
Both similar players... I think Raymond would be an All Star in the AHL.
Neither replace what Glencross brings.

The GlenX thing is pretty dumb.
Who the hell is Glen-Ex anyways?

I suggest the mods put a filter on GlenX and Glen-x and have it auto change to Glencross - seems doable, like the swear filter, and would make us better than those mouth-breathing Shelbyvillians up north, ammirite?

Ferland would be a better call up to replace Glencross on this road trip. Raymond doesn't have the physical fortitude to play the teams the Flames are going to be taking on.

basically, what it comes down to, the nickname GlenX is more offensive than anything Charlie Hebdo could even dream of.

Huh?
This sucks, arguably our best LW goes down and its *shrug*?
Glencross sure gets a lot flack on this board. Any of our LWs will get destroyed trying to fill in on his assigments. I want playoffs and this could hurt.

Yep, I agree with that. As long as he's showing something in practice he should be in. If he isn't, then I have no problem with him sitting. I hope he's showing the coaches he's ticked off and wants to redeem himself. He can score and he's got great speed. They could use that if Raymond is on his game.

I don't think anyone knows how severe the injury is. If it's a game or two it's not the end of the world. If he's out for the season, then that stings. Nobody knows yet which is why nobody is too upset right now.
