Dude, that was the first concert I went to. Gotta love rush seating when you're a very small 12-year-old. 20 minutes of fans chanting "open the f***'in doors! Open the f***'in doors!" while perched on the jean-jacket clad shoulders of a random head-banger, then a terrifying and exhilarating sprint through the concourse and over seats.

Yep. Wasn't keen on the Signals songs, but I'm pretty sure they played every song from Moving Pictures.

God some of you are old. Thanks for that, btw. Makes me feel younger.

My favourite Corral memory doesn't even involve hockey. Daniel Nestor beating world #1 Gustavo Kuertin in the Davis Cup in 2003.

Course, now that we are a world group country, Tennis Canada doesn't care about Calgary anymore...

Saw the Sutter brothers go after the fans vs the Wranglers.

In Scouts, our team won the Ice Jamboree, pulling around a mini-chuckwagon. A person at the back had to hold a tow rope to keep the sled from crashing into the boards.

I remember seeing the Wrigley Midget tournament - it became Air Canada. There was a really good player from Calgary, but he only had one eye, and wasn't allowed to play in the NHL?

We may have covered this before, but I was there too! New World Man tour?

edit: Just read CliffFletcher's post and your reply - it was the Signals Tour. The t-shirt I bought on the way to the Corral from some dodgy looking guy wasn't official merchandise, and had 'New World Man' on it with something that looked like a lizard on it. By the time I got in the Corral, I didn't have enough money left for the real deal.

That was also my first concert. I'm going to discount seeing 'The Kidz' at Hollywood Roller Gardens.

The first hockey I saw at the Corral was the Calgary Stampeders getting their asses handed to them on a plate by the Kimberley Dynamiters. I went to that as an end of soccer season team celebration.

One of the dads chaperoning us came up the steps to the seats carrying a load of popcorn. As he got to the top of the steps a pre game warm up puck came flying over the glass and hit him in the nuts.

Popcorn flew everywhere and a bunch of 10 year old boys were in hysterics.

This thread reminded me, my mom saved the program from her first hockey game after coming to Canada. The Flin Flon Bombers vs. Centennials in 1969. Flin Flon won the Memorial Cup that year with Clarke and Reggie Leach.

Oh yeah, the Noble Hotel. Huge bar probably sat 1000 people or so. Live rock bands with no cover charge.

I had a friend who played for the Rockies, so I got free tickets to the Corral when he came to town. That's the only time I went there to see a game.

I attended a few Shrine Circus in the ealy 70's at the Corral.

They had a comic convention at the Corral one year where George Takai was the guest, also bought a replica first edition Action comic in large format as well as Spider man vs Superman, also large format.

Stampede Wrestling would put on a huge card at the Corral during Stampede week. I saw Andre the Giant and the McGuire Twins, who had to be fork lifted into the ring. One of the best cards ever!

The first concert I went to with buddies, was PRISM in 1979. Met the band at Kelly's Records store off McLeod Trail in the afternoon. Remember $7.99 albums? Also saw the Doobie Brothers, Journey, RUSH during that time period.

Arrived at the Corral early for the Harlem Globe Trotters, helped as a water boy, before the game.

Saw the Centennials, Wranglers, ( was at the Lethbridge game when the Sutters and Steve Monkus tried to get at the crowd.)Cowboys, have Gordie Howes autograph and many programs.

Dad was original season ticket holder to Flames, attended the home opener.

I saw the 1980 Canada Olympic hockey team play the New York Rangers prior to the 1980 Lake Placid games. The U.S. team played here too. I still have the program with the Rangers autographs.I jumped on the ice after the game to get the autographs.

And as mentioned earlier I also play beer league hockey at the Corral, finally made it

Memories and Dreams.

Remember the Shrine Circus. I don't think we ever had to pay to go see that because we always got free tickets at school.
