Best draft to come along for a number of years. The Roughnecks paid a premium to get another 1st this year - they think they can get 2 impact players in the draft.
Good at the top end and deep as well.
So I suspect if the Roughnecks feel they need to re-shape their roster, they will do it in the off-season. They will need to free up a couple roster spots for the new draftees.
It's tough to assess if they decide to move someone, who it should be
- Dobbie is a pure sniper and has matured into a real leader on this team.
- Evans is one of the top 3 players in the league and absolutely clutch
- Shattler back checks has hard as anyone and has such a great skill set
- Dickson has way too much upside and is the best 1:1 player in the league
- Veltman is a glue guy. This stuff he does off-ball, gives us the big guns the room they need.
So I love that forward group - but you may need to part with one of them to provide you with some help either in transition or D. I expect Brider could retire at the end of the year - they probably need to think hard about draft a rear guard with one of the picks. They've gone heavy on transition the last couple of drafts (Leung looks like a STEAL) - but the D is getting a little long in the tooth. McCrae is still getting better - but the rest are kind of at their peaks already.
Goaltending may also need to be address depending on what happens with Poulin the rest of the way.
I think they will draft a forward with one first, and then try to deal one of their top guys for help out of the back door. And then they will likely draft a D with the other first.
