Good:
- Got my very important one year in the 3D industry.
- Finally got around to finishing my school demo reel so I could get my diploma.
- Finally got to see Whistler.
Bad:
- Got what I consider demoted at work because of an issue with my schedule that was partially my fault but partially theirs. I like the people I work with but not the job so my main goal this year is to find a new job.

Giants - World Series
Stamps - Grey Cup
Canada - WJHC
Surely in 2015 the Patriots will win the Superbowl and the Flames will take back the Stanley Cup.

Moved into our first house in October.
Had a really positive year at work -- basically got promoted twice (with salary increase each time) and enjoy it here.
Wife got pregnant with almost no effort and has had a fairly easy pregnancy so far -- not much sickness or discomfort for her, which is great!
It was a good year. April this year will bring the aforementioned child, should be a fun 2015!

What are you doing in the 3D industry? Computer side, filming side? Assuming TV/video here. I have contacts on that side and might be able to help out.
As far as the topic goes nothing overly good or bad happened. Bought a new car, nothing fancy but servers me well enough. Wife's little business is doing well, not well enough for the G man to retire but soon hopefully. Two youngest kids are happy and healthy, oldest just got his 2nd year electrician ticket and works out of town way up northern Alberta. Overly not to bad but nothing really exciting.

Bought an acreage
Finished my MBA
Spent two weeks in Beijing, Shanghai and Xi'an. Best trip of my life.
Successfully completed a high profile project with positive reviews in the media
Brothers both had babies, helping us remember we have no interest in that baby phase again.
Huh, not a bad year.

Right now I'm working at a 3D kids cartoon studio. I started as a modeler which is what I want to do but right now I'm in the rendering department.
Games is what I want to get into but modeling positions for games out here seem to be pretty scarce so film/tv would be my other choice. I did a 3D Kipper for my demo reel but environments/props is what I'm interested in doing.

Working at something like Bardel? Unfortunately the only people I know in gaming are on the media relations or accounting sides. Know lots of people at places like Sony, ILM, MPC, Gener8 and a lot of the smaller guys as well. MPC is about to expand again, opening a second office downtown, they are always hiring. ILM is not as big as MPC but I know they are looking as well. The film side is a lot more transient where you are pretty much a contract worker and bounce from house to house. I could pass along info if you like?
Quick update...MPC has moved the modeling department to London/Bangelore. Still do a lot of environments, texture and lighting though.

Haha well it wasn't unexpected. It was more of a "sure, we want a kid, we could give it a try" and one month later...
Certainly better than trying for years with no success, that would be difficult.

Good:
-Trips to Barcelona, Ibiza and many music festivals throughout the year. Barcelona has now become my #1 destination after visiting in the summer
-My Grandfather died 2 years ago and my Grandma was still living in their huge 8 bedroom house all by herself. Finally got her place cleaned out, sold and moved her to a much more comfortable living situation that she's loving.
-Started working out and eating healthy at the start of 2014 and the results have been impressive.
-Flames battling hard to make the playoffs
Bad:
-My little sister graduated high school in the summer and moved in with my other sister in Vancouver to go to UBC. I miss them both dearly.
-Honestly not many bad things happen to me in general and I'm very lucky and thankful for that. I guess still being single? But I'm working on that.

The Good
Both kids in school now.
Found a good renter for my rental property after a nightmare of three years.
I'm still breathing.
It was a pretty boring 2014. I'm looking forward to 2015. Plans are to quit smoking for real this time, Slow down drinking, Month long trip to the Philippines and be a better father and husband.

Won the Budweiser Flames Fan Experience.
Probably the biggest year of my life to be honest.
