Odd since Glencross is probably blocking more shots than JG. And JG is probably just toeing the company line by wearing them, but really, why not? Literally doesn't hinder anything.
FYI, that picture of Glencross is actually from the 2012-13 season, before they even tried to implement that policy. I think he actually wears them now.

Obviously everyone will now be looking for who wears skate guards in the game thread tonight.

Will be watching from Philly at my girlfriend's house tonight, whilst cooking an absolutely massive Rib Roast. Here's to a Happy New Year and a Flames 4th consecutive win.

I wonder if Eberle is watching the world juniors right now while a single tear rolls down his cheek.

Keep the second one. It has more beer and thumbs up emojis.

Big game tonight. When I go to the game on friday vs. the Islanders, I hope to be cheering the Flames on for a 5th straight win!

Go Flames Go! These points are huge.

I'm personally a fan of their comedy routine. Or as they call it, and I hope I spell this right, "hockey".

Classic trap game tonight. A well rested Flames team playing a god-awful Oilers team on the 2nd night of a back-to-back...a team they've also dominated in every game so far this year. Really hope the Flames aren't looking past this one. If they can come out hard and jump out to an early lead, the Oilers will fold like a cheap tent. Really need these 2 points so we can leap-frog L.A. in the standings.

Looks like Leon Draisaitl will be playing again for the Oilers tonight. I thought for sure he'd be on his way to Kelowna. I guess MacTavish figures he hasn't quite reached the fail point yet.

Watch him pull his groin and wind up staying past the 40th game so he makes reaching free agency one year shorter.

That's right. And no Game Day Thread too today...

To Calgary Flames:

Please, please, please, don't ruin our collective New Year Eve by losing to Edmonton Oilers, the worst team in the league. I promise to forgive ... but still, please don't ruin it. Play well, boys. Go Flames!
