I can't understand for the life of me why Salt Lake City isn't still our affiliate, it seems like a slam dunk - it's a 2 hour direct flight from Calgary that supported an AHL/IHL team for 25 years. I know the building situation isn't perfect but it's manageable, certainly no worse than Glen Falls.[/QUOTE]

What is wrong with the building situation in SLC? The Maverik Center is a fine AHL building. Probably better than most in the Ahl. I don't think the ECHL draws well in Utah because they charge AHL prices for ECHL hockey.

Grande Prairie's arena is too small to house WHL Hockey. I think it only seats 2000 or so

It would be a good market if someone built a rink though. Just very isolated.

Really hoping Fresno ends up as the Sharks' affiliate. Obviously I'd prefer us to end up as the Flames' affiliate, but that seems very unlikely. At least if the Sharks' team ends up here I can see the Flames' prospects live a few times a season

Ken King wouldn't confirm or deny when asked about Stockton. Said only that they were looking a lot of options.

That's an answer in itself, as it is an admittance that the Flames are looking.

Like I said in the Back Burner forum, all requests for changes next season in the ECHL have to be submitted by Dec 22 and then voted on by the ECHL board in January.

So if this is going to happen for next season, it is going to need to happen fairly quickly.

Yeah you're right, for some reason I thought the smaller rink was way out in the sticks and the Jazz's stadium was too big but that is a fine size and pretty close to city centre.

But Jax cleared all the violence in Stockton...it should be ok to go there now.

I found the Flames agreement with the City of Glens Falls:
http://www.cityofglensfalls.com/docu...1331367910.pdf

Starts on page 41 of that PDF.

On page 48 of that PDF, under the heading 14 Notices, it says the Flames have the right to terminate the agreement (no penalties either) with the city of Glens Falls by giving written notice on or before May 1st of each year.

So they can get out of Glens Falls pretty easily at the end of this season without any obligations or having to put another hockey team there.

Pretty interesting agreement, outlines how much the Flames will pay in rent per game ($2500 plus $1.10 per non season ticket sold). Flames get 25% of concessions for the first $700k then 30% after. Flames get 100% of advertising revenues.

Also interesting that the Flames are contractually obligated to make a good faith effort of a NHL preseason game or bringing an exhibition game between the Calgary Flames and Adirondack Flames to Glens Falls.

Flames also had the rights in year 2 or 3 to hold a scheduled home game on an alternative site. Guessing for an outdoor game or perhaps a game in Calgary.
