He never said anything of the sort.

On two separate occasions Treliving openly stated that discussions were ongoing.

I'm good with him re-signing with the Flames. I don't think the 6 game losing streak factored into the decision at all. He has done some good things and will continue to put a hard working and motivated team on the ice. Playoffs are a bonus, but the team is doing some good things and the kids are really stepping up.

redonkulous.....we are mired in our longest losing streak of the year, and we are resigning coaches........this would never happen up in Edmonton!!!!

Actually, Edmonton is notorious for resigning their coaches...

Great...anyone who could coach a young team to play like they did in the first 25 or so games, deserves to stay. Now, for the first time in a long time, we finally have stability in coaching.

Do you not like the timing BECAUSE Treveling would not discuss during the season, or do you not like the timing because you think it's the wrong time to sign him?

What I remember is that Treliving and Hartley stated they would not discuss contract negotiations to the media until something was done.

No where did they say they would not be talking to each other.

Also, add me to the group that likes this.

Interesting that this was neither a Burke hire or a Treliving hire and they are bringing him back. Really says a lot for what our GM thinks of Bob.

Glad that Treliving is looking at the big picture and not postponing or canning this based on this losing streak

Well at least he's not using meaningless technicalities to back up his opinion though.

The most important way to judge Hartley is by the the development of young guys.

Last year - Backlund took a big step up (hopefully he can stay healthy)

This year - Brodie took another step up. Gaudreau has been about as good as anyone could expect and Jooris has been the surprise of the year. Granlund has been sticking in the line-up over guys like Stajan and Bollig.

You can argue about Sven but in the end he's playing better now that he has in a long while so there is still hope.

Hard to argue with what he has done with this team. Definitely the right call.

Hartley deserved it. I wonder if it's 2 or 3 year extension.
