A couple of things here, why the objection to having a tie, if both teams are not good enough or pushing to score within the regulated time then make them pay by only getting a point each. If a team ties all of their games they only get 82 points which is not enough to make the playoffs, they still need to win some games. (Not that I think any team could ever draw all of their games)
Not sure how 4 on 4 is considered gimmicky when we already have 5 on 4 when a team has a power play, what's wrong with 4on4??
