We've been calling for this since Gaudreau's first NHL game last year. Too bad since Backlund is out we'll only rarely see this - Sean's line been thrust into more of a shutdown role rather than one that drives possession and offense.
Such a pity because you know this line would have great potential too.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Colborne ---> (Let's see how this line can do together)
Granlund - Jooris - Hudler ---> (Curious to see how Granlund can do on the wing with Hudler and Jooris)
Glencross - Stajan - Jones ---> (We could use a veteran line)
Bollig - Byron - Bouma ---> (Our crash and bang line as mentioned).

I approve of these line combos.

Offensively, yes. Defensively, it's debatable. Having a line with two 2nd year players with a rookie who has had his share of mistakes and turnovers to start the year is probably not a recipe for success. Monahan has done well this year, but he has shifts where he looks lost as well. Colborne is the oldest of the bunch, but isn't a whole lot better defensively. You need balance on a line otherwise you'll never get out of your own zone to attack. This is exactly why Edmonton is no good.

Surprisingly Stajan has a bunch of hits since he came back. Especially against Toronto.
I'm not sure Bollig and Byron are a good fit together. Byron can get up and down the ice before Bollig makes it out of the zone.

As he typically does, Bollig can just flip the puck out of the zone to opposing d-men and to his surprise, Byron is there to get it like the Flash!

Go flames go!

I'd like to see that too but I doubt it happens until Backlund returns.

They are showing the 1986 playoff game between Edmonton and Calgary with the Steve Smith goal on sportsnet. What an exciting brand of hockey that was. The only reason that I can see to cheer for Edmonton righting the ship is to see the Battle of Alberta mean something again, but the way things are, Calgary is building an 80s calibre team, and Edmonton never will.
Wow games were fast back then, and the goalies were tiny.

Just a realist. Rangers have been playing really solid for awhile combined with us not playing as well makes me think it'll be a close game.
