If Center Ice is broadcasting most flames games in lo-def where you are, then it's a no-brainer. Get GCL.

I've got 100Mbps connection and watch Game Centre on my Apple TV. I have zero complaints about picture quality when I sit back on my couch.

I use Chromecast now to cast GCL from laptop Chrome browser to TV and there's no lag and the quality is good. It's just a touch worse than HD that comes for your normal TV programming, but definitely way better than watching on a small laptop screen.

Hey guys, I'm bringing this topic back.

Is the claimed HD-quality of Gamecenter close to the quality of HD Netflix? If so, I can definitely live with that.

What are the features?

• Watch live out-of-market games in HD-quality with a choice of the home or away team's broadcast (live games available during the regular season in the U.S.)
Like I said earlier in the thread, for whatever reason in my region I mostly get SD sportsnet streams of Flames games thru Center Ice. Spending $160/year for SD doesn't cut it for me.

I don't think it is, but maybe it's just my Internet connection. I can notice an obvious lag or something like that when watching game centre. That being said, I will subscribe again.

Not if you google things.

As for the quality, if you use ps4, Xbox, Apple TV, etc. it's better than Telus or Shaw. Just don't use wifi, run an Ethernet cable.

Doubt it. No blackout of Canucks games here in Vancouver

On my ps4 through Shaw it's decent, but not close to cable

I use Gamecenter streaming to an appleTV and a roku in my house wirelessly. It works very well (though I thought the quality took a step back last year). I am a big fan, as then when I am at other peoples houses or cottages I can sign in on their appleTV or my ipad.

I'm going to give it a whirl this year. The majority of games will be watched on the ps4.

Like I said earlier, in my region the majority of Flames broadcasts are SD on Center Ice. So even so-so HD is better than SD. It should be a crime to broadcast major league sports in SD.

Plus some of the features of GameCeter look pretty nifty.

It's still good if you have a stable far connection, just not HD Netflix quality or even cable. I enjoy it

According to their blackout FAQ, all 82 games should be available to us in Calgary. I'm going to give Gamecentre a try this year and cancel my cable. This may finally be my answer to not needing cable anymore. Netflix, Gamecentre, and PS3s FTW! (hopefully)

The problem is the framerate. The picture is pretty comparable to Sat/Cable HD, but the frame rate has always been too slow and find it distracting and hard to watch. MLB AM is doing it this year in the US though, so maybe they can improve things. It sounds like we should be able to just pay for Flames games this year too, so it should be a little cheaper.

Glad this got bumped. I've been a CI subscriber but was thinking of making the jump to GC since I cancelled most of my TV channels and strictly stream.

- Was worried about Flames' games on GC being blacked out, but it appears that is not an issue?
-I have 50mbps internet with Telus, so I'm thinking that should be good to stream in full HD with no lag. True?
-The sweet thing about CI is that you can PVR games, then let it spool up for an hour and skip the commercials and intermissions. How easy is it to do with GC? Is it even an option to do something like let the stream queue up for a bit then click with the mouse to advance through commericals? Or am I forced to watch games live the entire time?

No, you can pause the GC stream and then burn through commercials, or just start watching the game from the beginning an hour after puck drop.

The tricky part is starting the GC stream late without seeing the score ticker up above

The fact that there are no games blacked out in Alberta makes me want to try Game Center this year.

Do I get the home and away feeds for every game?

According to their website, yes for all games.

Center Ice you rarely get both feeds, at least in my region.

I'm just getting GC this year and see for myself how it goes. I have 200Mbps internet, so hopefully the quality is going to be good.
