My party wiped on a Dragon in the Hinterlands and kept running around. We could hit the dragon but couldn't hurt it, but my characters armour hurt opponents attacking. I quit after 20 minutes of doing 1 damage each time the dragon tried to bite me.

you need to be at least at lvl 16-18 in order to kill the easy one (hinterlands)

Nope, that dragon is lvl 12 and it's fairly easy to kill when you're at that same level. Just bring a couple of mages, preferably with ice staves, and it's not that bad. Hit the tactical cam to move them away from the dragon whenever they end up too close
Or you can bring Sera with you once you unlock her specialization and completely cheese it. Her focus ability can one shot most dragons

How/when do you unlock specialisations? I've been chatting with Solas, Viv, and Sera forever and nothing seems to come of it.

After the big event at Haven, there will be a mission on the war table for specializations. Once you do that you talk to one of three NPCs for the specialization you want and they'll give you a quest

The backflip shot with the bow is ridiculously overpowered when you have a good bow + high crit. Get closer to the guy you're trying to kill and bam, dead.

From what I can gather on the Bioware forums, the patch released today did nothing to address the input problems, and caused some graphics problems on PCs.
So if you're playing on a PC you might want to hold off.

I finished it finally today. I like how the story concluded.

I'm working on my specialisation quest right now. I shall be the Qunari Champion!!
At any rate I've been playing around with party combinations a lot right now, and I've settled on Sera, Vivienne, and Solas. I like Dorian better than Viv, but I got her first and gave her fire spec. After I get specialisations, should I change my party at all? Sera kicks ass as it is, with her stealth and bow. I enjoy having Iron Bull at my side for his DPS output, but he doesn't have much survivability. Cassandra and Blackwall are pretty much me, so they seem irrelevant.
I like the fact that all my DPS is ranged while I tank everything. I'd like to bring Bull along, but like I said, he dies too quickly for a melee DPS.

I played it as an archer and went with Solas Sera with Cassandra as the tank, so your set up seems basically the same as what I did.

This game feels like a cheap mmo when I play it. Not what I was expecting. Similar to Destiny in the way it implements the game mechanics to appeal to as wide of an audience as possible.

I'm really liking the game but man there could be some better tutorials for potions and weapon customization as the menu system isn't very friendly. It drives me nuts trying to figure out which weapons, armour, rings are for which character etc. I figure after all these years that they should be able to streamline this stuff so it's more user friendly but not the case with this game.

Iron Bull dies way too quickly. Way way waaaayyyy too quickly.
Also I killed me a Dragon last night. Took a few tried to figure out the pattern, but I finally realised that I should focus fire on the front legs then when (s)he falls down, hit the head hard and fast. Took the SOB in the Hinterlands down pretty quick once I figured that out.
I take it I should save my dragon bone and that for high end schematics.

If you kill plenty of Dragons, you'll have enough dragon stuff to make lots of equip.

How do you know what to sell and what not to? I have all these valuables but I hear you need some of them for quests so I don't know with a lot of this stuff I'm carrying around.

To complete some quests, I'm supposed to report to the War Room. When I do, nothing happens. How do you close those quests?
How do you do the challenges on the map in the War Room? How do you travel to the sites?

You have to go to the war woom and find the corresponding marker on the map, I think.
Not 100% sure about the challenges.

Not sure how accurate it is but...
I've done some reading and some people say to stop at the research table and drop off your items, also keep anything that is red or yellow, any Fereldan medals, and spider ichor. Everything else you can sell.
