Haha this comparison is perfect. Healy hates Johnny as much as JBL hates Daniel Bryan.

Healy's not liked much in the GTA either.
As for his insistence to continue to rail on Gaudreau - he screwed up with his "Johnny Hockey sucks" commentary a couple weeks back and he knows that. He's just stubborn as hell and isn't the type to admit he was both premature and wrong. He's done this before on a number of players but I can't remember who they were.

Can't remember the details exactly, but during the 2004 Wings/Flames series, I think the guy actually went on TV and gave detail to the Flames injuries. No upper body, or lower body, but Warrener has a bum left shoulder.
Was speechless..

I remember that, I vaguely remember him saying that the game after Hatcher viciously elbowed Lombardi in the mind and thinking to myself; WTF Healy? Not enough Flames seriously injured for your liking?

Yeah I remember that too... It was like he was actually angry Calgary beat the Wings... Maybe he lost a large bet or something.
I never really noticed him before that series... Since I've grown to dislike him more and more. Hates the flames and is stupider than a chimp... and probably most dolphins.

Hey! That's pretty insulting and childish.
Chimps and dolphins are noble, intelligent creatures. No need to lump them in with lower life forms.

It's one of the best to yell when you're a couple Saddledome beers in.

Healy is just an annoying personality. I was rather surprised that he was hired by Sportsnet. It seems there is not a single fan base out there that like him, or that he hasn't rubbed the wrong way. He just likes to be controversial. That, unfortunately, seems to be the state of journalism these days. The more controversial you can be, the more people will click on your articles and pay attention to you.
We need to have less mention of Healy, and much more mention of Duhatschek. Here is an actual good article by an actual insightful journalist who not only has great ideas for articles, and a wonderful writing style, but doesn't rely on gimmicks or controversy to remain relevant. How Sportsnet didn't hire him (maybe they tried?) I will never know.

“Leaving Zurich, part of the talk was this team had to go through a rebuild – and you can’t go through a rebuild if you don’t show confidence in your young players,” said Hartley.
“For me, it’s a very easy equation. If you put tons of pressure on those kids, they’re going to crumble. You don’t give them a chance to succeed. So we’re giving them challenges and they’re having fun and they’re working hard. We’re making everything possible.”
|
Interesting quote that I don't think has ever been picked-up on. The consensus when Hartley took over was that this team needed a rebuild. However, that season they were 'trying to win' still (though not mortgaging the future to do so). Interesting that Hartley mentions rebuilding when first coming over.

My fury towards his Johnny Hockey dislike is calmed by knowing that this will follow him for the rest of his career. Every mention of how Johnny Hockey doesn't deserve the moniker is another quote he will have thrown back at him for years.

As much as it would be great for other reasons, I want JG to win the Calder just for Healy.

So, maybe overboard and giving a useless plug too much credit... but how funny would it be if the Saddledome started an "Eat it Heeeealy" chant for a Johnny goal?

I have to write a script to reply to anything with #Healy:
"166-190-47 record and .887 save pct = star goalie"

The fact that he's had to go on a bunch of shows and defend his stupid comment is evidence that other media folk think it was stupid as well.

Yup, I loved this quote from the Herald story about his parents coming to visit:
Quote:
“We said ‘John, where should we go?’,” says his mom. And he said: ‘There’s this big building in the middle of Calgary’ ” – the Calgary Tower, undoubtedly – “ ‘go up to the top and you’ll see everything.’ And I said ‘OK, but where are the mountains?’ And he goes: ‘Oh, I don’t really know. I just play hockey.’ ”

Every Saddledome game that's broadcast on HNIC, there should be a "Healy Sucks" chant.
Does Healy work weekday games?

It would be perfect justice for the presenter to say upon opening the envelope:
"And the winner is Johnny Hockey."
