Derek Wills @Fan960Wills
.@johngaudreau03's parents, Guy & Jane, in #YYC to watch their son play tonight & Saturday. Hope Johnny can stretch point streak to 3 games!

Nice to see Gaudreau getting more time on the PP. Hartley must have had his reasons to keep him off it before, but I think it's such a natural place for him to do his Johnny thing.

Now if he only could a little more OT time!

All in good time.

If Johnny lights it up today, we might have to get his parents season tickets.

He hasn't played 10 NHL games yet is a good reason

When your bread and butter has always been the PP and situations where you can use the extra space, one would imagine your team would want to put you in that position to succeed as soon as possible. Look what happened as soon as he got a little PP time...he's gained confidence with every shift since then. Id be willing to bet you'd see some magic from him in OT as well.

All in due time indeed...but sometimes it's not rocket surgery.

Johnny Gaudreau with the hatty and CP explodes.

Also Hiller shines in a 5-0 shutout of the Canes.

I like to think of it as Hartley pacing and easing Johnny in the first bit, then sitting him for one last look at the whole NHL-level game. Then, I imagine Hartley approaching Johnny the next day and saying to him, "'ey, you know, like, show me what you can do, kid."

Yeah, I definitely think there's some easing in with him...but typically when I hire someone new, I want to ease them in by having them do things they are already good at. Putting him on the PP where he has some time and room is probably the thing he's most comfortable with.

I don't think Hartley has handled him terribly or anything, but I do think the PP and OT are places where he will shine the brightest, so Im excited to see him in those situations.

pacing is important, I don't expect Gaudreau to play more than 70 games this year. He'll sit out some back to backs or 3 in 4 or 4 in 6.

I'm as excited as everyone else for our secondary scoring to continue but Hudler has been pretty quiet for the last 4. Hope to see him improve tonight as well.

When Carolina scores, it's your fault.

Maybe that's the reason right there. Gaudreau got very little power play time at BC.

Setoguchi is better off being sick then he would be on the ice. Win for us.
