So pumped for the game. I'm going and it's the first time I'll be sitting in the lower bowl for a NHL game. Really hoping for some Johnny magic so I can say I was at that game when Johnny ....

Remember those Retro 3rds that we'd always win in? Ya I remember those sexy jerseys and also recall buying another one right before they switched to the loser 3rds..

I don't think so Tim.
Top 2 in the East? Possible. Battle it out with NY, MON, BOS.
Top 5 in the League? Can't see that happening.

Definitely excited about bolded, but I love every single player (but one) in that lineup!
Byron playing on the top line? Amazing.
Bolded is going to be a ton of fun to watch
Jooris and Colborne are going to be awesome
Good luck to anyone who gets matched against the 4th line. Get the ice bath ready.

Liking the look of our lines. Think its fair to say that we are full strength tonight. No Jones, Diaz or Setoguchi. Really looking forward to this, just hope our defence can handle Stamkos.

Heck yes, every single game that rolls along, I'm just grateful to have hockey back.
As for the preview video on the site, I'm surprised Dan Rosen was on there, I didn't think he knew who the Flames were... He has a strong Eastern bias and he's really boring.
Excited to see the energy tonight, I predict a 3-1 (EN) game that really goes down to the wire. Not sure who the winner is.

It's amazing how much better I feel about this team than I did two weeks ago. I was all about McDavid but now screw that. I want to win.

While I'm not quite ready to put Tampa Bay into the elite cup contender conversation just yet, they are very good and I'm going to take the comments of some of the posters here as not much more than they haven't had a chance to watch them much. Hedman, Gudas, and Callahan out of their lineup really changes it, Probably 2-3 of their top players and major difference makers not playing. It's like taking Giordano, Russell? (no good comparison for Gudas' physicality and defense combination), and Backlund out of the Flames lineup. Great goaltending with Bishop (ahem, Vezina finalist) and an experienced Nabokov, best goal scorer in the game, good depth at center, creative and dangerous wingers, good bottom 6 with experience, good depth at defense with both skill and size, good special teams. The only thing they lack is probably a 1st pairing defender to go with Hedman. They dumped a lot of dead weight last off-season and replaced them with younger, more talented, and hungrier players. You put those missing players back in their lineup and it looks like this:
Palat-Stamkos-Callahan
Killorn-Filppula-Johnson
Kucherov-Boyle-Brown
Morrow-Namestnikov-Connolly
*that's with Drouin not even in the lineup as a regular…just wait until he's adjusted to the NHL.
Hedman-Carle
Gudas-Stralman
Garrison-Brewer
Bishop
I can't think of many teams that have the quality and depth at all positions like they do. So yes, I put them top 5 in the league.
Blackhawks
Kings
Ducks
Lightning
Blues/Canadiens (hard to pick between the two)
Edit: Drouin caveat.

Tampa Bay will come out strong, we gotta survive the first 20. This is the most exciting Flames hockey in years.

The longer Monahan goes without potting one, the tighter he'll be gripping his stick.
I'm predicting he will score tonight.

I really liked how Drouin looked last night. Reminded me of Bennett the way he hounds the other team to get the puck.

Any word on who's in net for Tampa? Bishop played yesterday, so could see Nabakov.

I know it's a thing, but I've long wondered why us as Flames fans get excited/even care about what line each player starts the game on. We haven't had a coach in fifteen years who went with set lines for an entire game. One average to bad shift from a line and it all changes up ten minutes into the game.

We just got used to having a couple of very stubborn coaches *cough* B. Sutter *cough*.

So Setoguchi out again. He looked really really uncomfortable in Winnipeg.
If Jooris plays well, you have to wonder if the writing will be on the wall for the free agent signing in the next couple of weeks.
