I'm actually disappointed that they're not even bothering to use Scorch. Aside from bad judgement off a picture, there's was nothing else wrong with the mascot that they had to abandon it immediately. People weren't gonna care about the firefigher picture that it was gonna be a prolonged issue.
They missed an opportunity to market around a ridiculous, yet hilarious mascot. Anything they replace it with now won't be as good since it'll always be compared to Scorch.

Adirondack missed out of a few opportunities here with Scorch.
Yes there was the unfortunate incident with the fallen firefighter (which looking more at it, was the media's fault more then Adirondack's) but they could have turned that into a positive. Surely they would have had Scorch merchandise and could have donated a percentage of those sales to help a local charity or fire department's association to assist with injured or fallen firefighters. Scorch goes from "killing firefighters" to helping them raise funds for some firefighter assistance unit.
That's a strong community involvement and an excellent charitable cause, especially if these great fires were something that had devastated the city (sorry, I don't know Glen Falls history).
And being how much media and popularity he got in less then a week, I'm sure they would have sold well and had a sizeable donation to make while still getting funds for the team.

Easily the worst decision in AHL history. For shame, now it's just gonna be some lame ass mascot that everyone is totally indifferent towards rather than this legend.

Goodbye Scorchy Flame
Though I never knew you at all
You had the grace to hold yourself
While those around you crawled
They crawled out of the woodwork
And they whispered into your brain
They set you on the treadmill
And they made you extinguish yourself
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a fire in the wind
Never knowing who to scorch
When the rain set in
And I would have liked to have known you
but your life was short
Your fire burned out long before
Your legend ever did
Mascoting was tough
The toughest role you ever played
Airondack created a superstar
And pain was the price you paid
Even when you fired
Oh the press still hounded you
All the papers had to say
Was that Scorcy beat down a firefightter
Goodbye Scorchy Flame
From the Flames fans on CP
Who sees you as something as more than lame pupput
More than just our Scorchy Flame

This! I wonder if the TM dies with Scorch. If so, Calgary Puck could do up a tee spring campain or something.
