that is not at all what I am saying its not a trade proposal
You say they aren't top level because they can't get the Flames to the playoffs and I am saying take the top pairing in the league (whoever that may be) the the Flames still aren't a playoff team.

Yeah, but they'd never make that trade.

If the the comparison is to Doughty-Muzzin, I think there's a reasonable argument to be made the Brodie is a better player than Muzzin so I'm not sure why it works that way but with the Flames guys.

A one game sample of Corsi is about equal to how they looked in pre-game warm up.

He (Brodie) skated on a pairing with Mark Giordano and they faced, by far, the most difficult minutes on the team. They also produced the best results. In fact, Brodie's relative possession rate was amongst the very best in the entire league and he helped propel Captain Mark Giordano to his best season in the NHL to date. Giordano appeared on some Norris ballots due in no small part to skating with the former fourth rounder. Brodie also managed a career high 31 points despite only playing 1:47 per game on the PP and he led all Flames skaters in average ES ice time.
|
The kid faced some long hard minutes last year and he delivered what was asked of him and more. He's had time to prove he's a top pairing d-man and he's done a pretty good job so far. He's 24- he's only going to get better. Good on him, good for the Flames- Let's be positive.

Is Gio's contract not literally the best value for money in the league?

Gio makes 4 per, Brodie makes 2.5 this year.
Brodie hits RFA status at the end of the year, Gio has this season and next before UFA.
They will get paid, but at least we know that they will be worth the raises.

Outside of ELCs there probably aren't many that are better. Duncan Keith's is pretty good considering he's won two Norris trophies.

The sad part is by the time they're on their new deals, that number may triple.
The not so sad part is they're probably going to be worth it.

You're an oiler fan so you're probably not going to like Gio and Brodie because they actually play defense. I'm sure you'd like them a lot more if they practiced the oh so effective swarm technique the oilers use or if they did so sick toe drags.

Didn't think green text was necessary guys... Apparently I was wrong.
I definitely agree with the sentiment of this thread.
