It will be interesting as to how Hartley manages the team this year.

Sometimes players - vets or rookies - just need to sit a few games and watch from above. Sometimes they need to play through a slump. Also, on a rebuilding team, kind of throws the value off of vets getting benched as well. Definitely not an easy team to manage at the moment.

With that being said, I am glad that Hartley is taking this approach. Just reinforces the culture on this team. That '02-'04 Flames team was a hard-working bunch as well, and Sutter wasn't afraid to bench or scratch anyone. He moved upstairs, and every replacement seemed to be deathly afraid to do so, and the 'country club' began.

There will be no country club under Hartley's watch!

Its been a tough season for the young Flames defensemen

With the litigation, the notoriety, his subsiquent deportation to Ontario, and that provinces refusal to accept him. Oh well I guess that's more then most 31 year olds can handle

He has a NMC but I am sure would be willing to waive to get out of the press box. I still think, on a good team as a 5th-6th/PP specialist he could have a role. The big question is at what price point is that?

Would it be more beneficial to eat half his salary in a trade then to buy him out and have the cap hits for the extra year. The question is if there is a market for Wideman at 2.625 for 3 years. If there was we would at least be done with the contract at the end of the 16-17 season.

I doubt that is an actual Feaster tweet. He's a lawyer, so you'd think he'd use more judicious language than that. Plus, he has a job in the Tampa organization that I doubt he'd want to jeopardize with dumb tweets.

Yes that Jay Feaster twitter account is legit.

The official NHL twitter account and Tampa Bay Lightning account follows it.

Not to mention various Tampa Bay Lightning employees vouched for it on twitter when it came online.

He would be playing the victim card, asking why your picking on him.

Glad to see Hartley wants nothing to do with passengers, this is a team that has to work hard!!

Scratching Wideman ok you would be hard pressed to find a Flames fan to disagree with that. Scratching Grats against the chippy Oilers in their barn I don't get.

No Gazdic for the oilers so what do you see Grats doing that Bollig/Engelland can't do?
